Really? I thought this year was pretty damn interesting.

We've got Nightterror outbreaks, trolls spamming the **** out of the forums, H6 is close so we've had a lot of interesting discussions about that...
We've got new moderators, among which CORRIBUS AS OSM MODERATOR must be mentioned, which has made the OSM quite an enjoyable place to lurk at actually.

Not to mention the many new faces of which many have become regular members, who joined/became active from november 2010 up until around march 2011 and maybe even later than that (haven't really checked everyones join date, I just compaired Jabanoss' and Meroe's first post dates).

Ehh... and a lot more stuff. Probably doesn't compare to the golden years or something but ya know... a few years from now we'll be complaining about that time not being as good as the one we have now.

Nostalgia is often kinda blind.

Well of course it is. The past does almost always contain
1) opportunity of a better life greater than now, because you've future knowledge and
2) security, because you lived in that past and nothing bad really happened.

Oh by the way, to OP and anyone else: Reflect on all of those years wasted erm, I mean spent on this forum. What have you got out of them? I'm just curious...

Now it's not like people have used every sinle moment of every single year on HC. How much do people actually sit on here? An hour pr. week in average? That's 2 days and 4 hours pr. year. So if you've been here for even 6 years, you've really only spend 13 days at this place. Yet for those 13 days you've got to know a lot of people, communicated, seen their thoughts and opinion, had the opportunity to share your interests.

Let's compare it to someone who uses 2 hours pr. day playing a popular game like WoW. After ~1 month of gameplay, said person have used the same amount of time as someone spending 6 years at HC and I'd be surprised if said person would have gotten nearly as much out of WoW.

Well, it doesn't matter how much time you spent here, just what you got out of it for all the time you spent. That's my question.

But... 2 hours a day spent playing WoW. Really??? Which planet are you from? Here on Planet Earth, WoW-tards spend 2 hours a day for a break from playing WoW.

Actually I am not familiar with what is the average. It was just a guess, trying to consider average work hours, needed sleep, time to eat and time for socialising, hobbies and outdoors activity.

I am not certain newbie and noob always have had the same meaning, even if they might have today. At least when I were part of communities that used such terms, it was:
newbie == new person.
noob == person who's doing badly.

Of course one can easily confuse a newbie and a noob by those definitions.

Noob, newbie and green have the same common meaning when used in forums, = inexperienced. The term you will choose depends on how much you want to humiliate them. Noob is the one hurting the most.

The meaning of a word is defined through its use.

You can find online sources claiming both what I wrote:
Quote:
Contrary to the belief of many, a noob/n00b and a newbie/newb are not the same thing. Newbs are those who are new to some task* and are very beginner at it, possibly a little overconfident about it, but they are willing to learn and fix their errors to move out of that stage. n00bs, on the other hand, know little and have no will to learn...

and other ones claiming that newbie equals noob.

One can argue for credibility of any given online source, but that's not the point here really, since the meaning of words, is defined through use and not vice-versa.

Edit: Just to be clear, everytime in the past when I may have written that I was the noob, etc. I didn't mean I was the newbie.

You guys do know I now have you all flagged as noobs for making me read all yer posts, for the love of god people! Discussing the meaning of newb & noob and their differences is not a valuable use of time. IMO!

Newbie = New to the game, but has a will to improve.
Noob = Person without a will to improve, abuses glitches and cheap tactics to "improve" his game.

There... imo.
