Well, its a good spell if you use it right. With master of fire + fire resistance + ignite its pretty good, or if you are playing academy and have magic resistance mini arties equipped on your units. Dwarves can use it sometimes too, they have lvl 5, 6 and 7 units immune to fire and may have "rune of elemental immunity". In Triebes of the east however, the armageddon spell/strategy is no longer that good, becouse Haven, Sylvan, Dwarves, Academy and Orcs have the Fire resistance perk in their skillwheels and can pick it easily. Fire Resistance reduces arma dmg by 50%, ignite dmg by 50% and makes your units immune to the master of fire 50% defece reduction . Necro can pick magic protection + sap magic + magic resistance + boneyard( adds 20% magic protection), Dungeon has immune to magic blackies and Inferno has Gating, effectively bringing more Health points and Dmg on the battlefield. There are also 2 artifacts giving magic protection ( dwarven smelthy hammer - 25%, and schield of crystal ice - 50%). So all in all if the game takes too long and/or your opponent knows how to counter Arma you are most likely going to lose. So, imo, arma tactics work only if your opponent isnt prepared.

as zaio says, armaggedon is good as long as you take care of your own troops, try not to lose creatures in vain
