Probably because haven is too easy to play as Perfect core synergy, lovely spell selection, all they miss is vampirism but it is hardly needed.

I'll help get this going a little with a few questions of my own.
First off I have been playing HOMM since the beginning (Excluding IV )
This time spent was more casually with doing random campaigns or skirmishes against bots. I never really got into the multiplayer scene of HOMM, let alone a competitive one. But the time has come to change!
Here are some questions I have:
Given an average map what should week 1 look like from a building production stand point? From experiences and reading / learning going straight to the capital is a top priority. I found this hard to accomplish though in the first week. I generally liked somthing like this.
Sisters (help with heals for mine creeping) - purchase all
Town 2
Marksmen - purchase all
Town 3 (usually wood/ore starts to hurt here
Lancer dudes - purchase some?
with 2 days left I would like to get a capital and either gryphons or balzing lights, but I am usually completely out of wood / ore and only have enough for one. Normally capital wins out and I buy a market place or hero vendor (normally +3 sister producer).
This was off the top of my head so the prereq may not line up exactly, but how does it look? Where is it weak, what fine points do I miss?

I build a Hall of Heroes first to buy 1 or 2 (if map is large) new heroes. Giving all the troops to the main hero I have no need to build creatures dwelling in the first week, which allow me to build capitol and market asap. The troop-less heroes scout and pickup loose resources while the main hero rushes the mines. On second week the secondary heroes ferry troops to and from (to upgrade) the main hero, so that he/she doesn't need to return to town at all.

Quote: P...Perfect core synergy...
yeah that's the words I was looking for in the other thread, liked what you said before in a beta thread about marksmen tickling praetorians guarding them...just imagine if griffins/imperial griffins and sun riders and luck were not bugged, but then again pressed attack is also bugged in extra dmg...
glories are by far my favourite unit and looks great too and when the elites become available, I don't even buy griffins and have two stacks of praetorians and vestals
no need to build creature dwellings in first week is so weird in heroes but that's map dependent I suppose

No need? You certainly need to build all cores Save maybe sentinels, your starting ones might just be enough if you play them in a passive-defensive manner.

not exactly what I meant,
I certainly build creature dwellings first week for creeping or stockpiling, I was just wondering about previous poster "no need" but the emphasis was on "need"

I love to play with Haven. But they just seems to be strongest of all others. From H3 to H6. Didnt play first two games.

I probably would too, I love enlightenment special. I will not argue that it's the best but it suits me just fine and you don't really need many might must skills with early haven creeping.

Not quite, my H6 legend will take a while to unfold People are going to be well-versed in the game by the time I return though it's probably for the better

Haven was only my favourite from H5 onwards. They were quite arguably the weakest in H2. While some people would say they're fast, having no flyers and low hp for all tiers is a very big disadvantage against shooters and spells.
In H5, I always felt they were one of the slowest and weakest in early games. They only shine after they get their Cavaliers on.
In H3 they were near flawless though. =x
Haven't gotten H6... can't wait to start but I've exams till Nov 30 ;(

Anyone having problem with imperial griffin diving assault not working? The normal griffin dive works but not the upgraded griffin.

Quite a nice magic combo strategy in a Haven game I was playing:
Magic Tears:
Light magic - Retribution aura & Healing
Fire Magic - Mass Burning determination
Burning determination worked nicely triggering morale making gaurdian angel more affective!

Counterstrike (passive) + Reinforcements on the Vestals in the start of a battle (and send them into enemy lines) is pretty much all I need , those sisters just wreck havoc with their over powered passification ability.
I tried to abuse it by splitting them but it just seem to not work when they are divided.
Does someone know how exactly this ability works?

Pacification ability does not work 100% of the time, it's a 50/50 chance of happening.
