The new DRM is bullsnow
I'm pissed, so I won't write an essay here:
The new DRM sucks
It requires you to stay online during the course of the game!
I currently live at a student hostel where the internet comes and goes - and if the internet disappears during a single-player game, it takes me back to the menu without giving me the opportunity to save.
This is probably a stupid question, but is there some way to circumvent this?

Start by playing off-line entirely.
You will not be able to reap the benefits of your dynasty and all of it's bonuses, but you're able to play every map, scenario or campaign without internet.

I play offline and it should be noted you do not get any of the bonuses you used to get at the start of a map, like gold, resources, or an artifact. Now you just get a notice telling you to connect to Conflux to get these bonuses. What a kick in the face.

It would be if they didn't warn you about it. There was even a full Q&A on that matter

I am aware that you do not get any of the Conflux bonuses when playing offline, but I was not aware the starting bonus of a map was removed outright due to this, perhaps I missed that part. It is one thing to not get any of the bonus heroes, artifacts, etc. But it is another to take out the old standard resources or a random artifact bonus just because you are not connected to their system.

The real problem lies for those who, like me, started online before realizing how the system works (it doesn't just check you in, you must stay connected through the whole game). I'd like to port my savegames to offline now, but there's no way to do it and I must accept that my game crashes whenever my connection fails. Not the best of methods Ubi, I must say.

Yeah, my internet connection is not stable either so offline mode it is....besides playing the campaign, I play hotseat with some friends so enjoying it like this....will be cool when simultaneous turns gets included for multiplayer connections...

I don't mind now because I have a good internet connection and I play the campaigns online but next year when I'll take my holidays I'll want to play offline with my laptop since I don't have a connection there. And only 2 things are necessary in my opinion : the classical starting bonus and more important the availability of all tavern heroes as main. I'll don't mind dynasty weapons or other traits as after a while they will become too powerfull anyway to have fun. Hope they make it possible to reset them to first level as well as all achievements if we want to start again the campaigns later.
