Heroes VI Casual Chitter Chatter
There didn't really seem to be a thread for informal, casual chitter chatter about the game and some general comments or impressions, so there is one now. Feel to chatter here about any observations and thoughts on the game as you're playing and adapting to it.
So far, the most impressive in-game artwork I've seen is the Earth Elementals! They're absolutely gorgeous looking.

Earth elementals do look rather scary. I haven't played much yet, but I really like the first three units for Haven. They work really well together and also look awesome. I noticed when you hover over natural units on the map, they usually respond to you hovering over them. I cranked up the ambient volume, so it might not be as noticeable if you do not. I also like how the crossbowmen do a pogo stick animation when it is their turn, I take a while when they are up deciding who to shoot.

I don't have the game... wasn't that just something from the joke video? They actually added that in the game?

They have added all of the animations you have seen on that April Fools video and plus the remaining units. My favourite is Juggernaut's flamenco (if it's flamenco)

Do all units have this idle animations? I only see Coral Priestess' and found some funny idle music in the .orc file. If all units have this idle animations then it would be great!

Sure, in a goofy series such as King's Bounty, or Warcraft maybe
And I already had difficulties taking these equal-opportunity advocating armies who otherwise look stoned or bored out of their skulls seriously

Whaaat? Heroes VI is not a goofy game?

Do you mean the Ashan's Universal Declaration of Sentient Beings and Magical Creature Rights Article VI (a) : The Rights of Female Species to be part of Heroic Armies and Article VI (b) : Affirmative Actions 30% Female per Factions?
On a side note, I can not imagine how people of Haven are still maintaining their modesty while high ranking Elrathian spirits move about freely without any clothing at all... OR maybe the Glories' light is so blinding, that common citizens of Haven can not see their actual form, while we, higher beings on higher plane of existence, can?

Oh, it definitely is a goofy game, but the non-Ashan games weren't as much.
Having silly stuff in the game is nice, just be subtle about it.

well, we are the ancients
Besides, Ashan folk + religion = Not the brightest of the bunch.

The Fate Weavers will juggle their blades around and some jazzy music will start playing in the background.
On some uneventful evening I need to check out all of the creatures.

Blaah! The pre-Ashan games were just as full of goofy tidbits as H5-H6, and sometimes, it was in an almost straightforward way. Remember the Charm of Mana? The artifact one got by trying to dance the Rama-Buta or something, always failing hilariously? The goofiness was there all right, and the Ashan games just continued the trend.

As a matter of fact, I don't remember that.
But I remember the H2 campaign intro, and how the royal seers met their untimely demises in various 'accidents'.
It was funny, but it was also played straight.
Similarly with Christian's campaign briefings in H3.
And some of the signs had funny tidbits.
But using your crossbow as a pogostick?
That is some serious Warcraft stuff right there.
EDIT: I miss campaign briefings

@Avirosb: I have never played Warcraft, but the fact that visual gimmicks replaced the old blink-and-You-miss-it jokes hidden in walls of text(Ring of Conjuring FTW ) just seems like the logical step in the direction they've taken with making Heroes more appealing to the masses. I'm not saying I approve, but sadly nowadays a quick visual "prank" is more well-received than enormous blocks of otherwise hilarious text. The players just want a joke, and they want it NOW or they lose interest.

Out of curiosity; What game's the Charm of Mana from?

H3, obviously. It was the +1 mana daily miscellaneous artifact, looking like a bunch of straws.(Here it is:) It's possible that the story with the gipsy folk dance was that of the Talisman of Mana, I always mix them up.

I love the Golden Egg relic. You have it for X amount of days and then it turns into a Golden Goose for 2000 gold per day.
