When you get Lorelei or an external Harpy dwelling, early Harpy upgrade is a reasonable option.

Playing Randoms and not taking mines.
Sometimes I'll see a mine say 2 days away, and I'll think " time is of the essence here, I'll get that later "
Wrong! mega newbie mistake, always get the mines!

yeah and a option to make opponent double active every turn
one of my favourite mistake is often i still forget to build castle+citadel when playing dungeon, rampart or tower.
I allways think i did that week 1 and damn when i look in my town week 3 i wonder where all the missin troops are.

Always read the manual first!
In the early, and not only in the early days I didn't take any units with the speed lvl of 3 to my army (like dwarfes, zombies) because I thought, my hero will have one movement point more next round.

Mistakes
How about playing a campaign and forgetting about the mentioned object of that particular level. Example: When you have to flag all 7 Griffon houses. I was beating the pants of the computer before I realized that I was supposed to just go flag these damn things!! What a dumb a$$!!!

My Siberian Huskie's name is Chewy.
Actually it's Chewbacca but we always call him Chewy.
I hope this isn't him posting while I'm gone.
If it is I apoligize for any cheating he might do in ToH.
Siberia is in Russia after all.

Once a newbie always a newbie
I make a newbie mistake every single game. And it appears that lately I have become a newbie again.
Seens, everyone else in TOH has improved while I have not gotten any better.
Random maps:
I have learned now that if you see a teleporter or sub gate that you are NOT allowed to walk anywhere near it. Unless you have 100% of your army on you. 3 Different games on randoms I have lost when being within 1 days walk of a teleporter or subgate and without all my army. Apparently it is a good move to site under a subgate or on other side of teleporter and wait for your opponent to walk helplessly by and you ppounce while he is vulnerable. hehe =)
Chaining!! I am to lazy to take the time to do it! Big newbie mistake. I have always hated Massive chaining. Little bit of chaining on day 1 of new week is okay to bring your troops to main but geesh clearing 1/2 your map in 2 days, give me a break. But Chaining is what seperates the newbies from the high ranked players I guess. I just never understood why the game would limit your hero movement per day if you could just chain and clear the map in 2 days anyways. Kinda takes away from the realism a bit. Anyways......
I could go on for hours with tons of newbie mistakes I have made. These latest ones I mentined all happened within the last 2 weeks lol.

okay so how about this one?
im not sure if this is a newbie mistake or not, but it still happens sometimes...
i have an attacking hero...i have a chain to that hero...i am positive that the chain will reach her/him...i chain my troops and she/he can't make it...why?
do different versions have different rules concerning movement? if i hand off a war machine does that slow down movement? sometimes does the comp decide to calculate movement based on what you have on your hero at that moment and not the beginning of the day?
this doesn't happen all the time, but when it does i almost cry...

To me it sounds like you are attacking day1 and you were calculating movement from a stable that you had the previous week.
That happened to me vs FC_SP111 and I lost because of it.
Serves me right.

Errm... Siberia "technically close" to Russia??
That's like saying "Ohio is technically close to the U.S."... in other words not very clever...

lovely newbie faults
Lovely is to let your main with all arts and stats flee at a creature to buy him back on next turn, when it is day 7 !!
Look into tavern day 1 isnt really funny then ...
In a clan war i had an opponent that was running around with all his lovely goldies...of course only with goldies to make him faster..he shouldve take off shackles...
I remember a game when i was running around with Thorgrimm 2 (!) gloves and the black orb...very interesting....Some Vampirelords did join me so i was sure that these Throng of Golems wont be a problem...omg...

DickGio are you saying that Siberia is in Russia?
By the way I find it extremely humorous that you never post here and then you do only to say "You're stupid..I'm smart"
Says a LOT about your character.
