There's a forest in your werewolf picture. Wolves are typically associated with wilderness, like forests or mountains. Not underground tunnels.

I hope the Minotaurs will conquer Ygg-Chall some day and throw the Dark elves or make them slaves.

Yeah, me too. In fact I've made several attempts at just such a dungeon.
However, that's not the discussion here.

Maybe it's the influence of Dragonlance creeping up in me, but I'd love a minotaur-based faction, and I don't even necessarily think they'd have to be a subterranean/dungeon style faction either.
edit: Project accepted

come on just imagine a Dungeon ruled by Darkstorns!
anyway I believe I used werewolves as one of the shapeshifting forms for the Wildsoul creature in my H6 Sylvan town

I like the idea of werewolves, but not in Dungeon. In the current Ashan setting it simply wouldn't fit. Perhaps in an extremely FERAL-themed faction or as a neutral?

Voted Neutral because I really can't this think crawling about in tunnels. Also, totally non-workable for Ashan, but in my proto-proposal, werewolves are elites in the Vale (dark forest) faction, along with nightmares and wood elves (see Irish myth, not Tolkien).

Without creating a new faction, I think the best current fit would be with Necropolis. I don't see why the faction should have to be exclusively undead. I always thought having a human knight unit would be cool in it.

Knights I can't see much point to (there's already vampires after all), but archers I can, after all swing a sword (just swinging, not actual sword-play) is pretty basic, but putting an arrow into an enemy at dozens of yards is going to take skill.

add some story behind (not the usual ashan "failed wizards experiment)
but something deeper..
Dark Elves are not "failed wizards experiment" in the Ashan history. They are the Elves banned from Irollan by Arniel due to Tuidhana's rebellious standing. And they get their powers when she takes Faceless' offer and pleads faith in Malassa.
Although they seem suitable for Dungeon, I wouldn't prefer it, don't know why. But it would be cool to have them as Champion neutrals. With 8 speed and 55 initiative
well i know that , i just ment that huge amount of creatures are "created" by wizards, and i wouldnt like the same description for werewolves, if they ever make it to Ashan

Do they really need to be their own race tho?
I mean, vampires aren't a race.
Ghosts aren't a race.

I would like to see the werewolf in the game. But I would like it more if it would be in a permanent werewolf form and not if the person could switch between the forms.
I think they could fit into the dungeon since it is the town associated with darkness(darkness=Night=Time for werewolves),it is right, that they do not live underground, but hydras and some other creatures too(especially creatures from the old dungeon line-ups)
However they could also fit into the sylvan line-up(maybe as elvish shapeshifters),since they can be associated with the wild nature.
They also could fit into another new evil faction(since necropolis is already in the game)or as a neutral unit.

Ghosts aren't a race.
And (Might&Magic: Heroes) is not (Heroes of Might and Magic). Now everything is a race. Expect a neutral faction of bandits, a faction of nomads, a faction of genies, etc.
Wolves don't belong in underground dungeons. This is why this thread makes as much sense as nipples on a breastplate.

you could easily make a story where Dungeon has had to escape Ygg-Chall and moved to the surface
maybe Sheogh was unlocked and demons overran it?

Dungeon doesn't need to be underground^^
It does... dungeon is underground, warlock doesn't.
In heroes 1+2 it was on surface and therefor included creatures unrelated to underground (gargoyles, hydras and such), but from H3 onward (not including H4) they are underground, after all dungeon is a structure underground....
Anyway I like werewolves but don't think they should be in dungeon.

In H4 it did not exist. And the closest related faction (Asylum) was far from underground.
I don't think the name "dungeon" relates to a necessarily underground faction nor does the so-far used lineups: the only specifically underground-creature where the troglodytes, who aren't even in nowadays. dark elves are definitely not only-underground theoratically, and the other creatures in the lineup even less, I think, especially hydras and dragons (thinking of H5) and Harpys (for H3).

However, this is in Ashan, so the only game we've actually got to work off is Heroes 5, where the Dungeon was underground.
