Help! is that a bug or? (map3 sanctuary campaign)
Hey guys, I did notice the spells get more expensive in the map 3 of the sanctuary campaign (like 25% more).
Heal and regen cost 25 instead of 20. Mass version 50, instead of 40.. lightning bolt cost 37 instead of 30, etc.. this is very strange.
I'd restart the map sometimes but nothing changes. It's look like the effect of the Week of Mana Storm is up all the time.
Another thing, this is happening only with Irina and Katashi (a hero you get in the map 2). The other heroes are normal.
This really is very strange
am I missing something?
thanks for the help!

OK, here is how it works: when the Week of Spells Costing More starts, it adds 25% to the cost of spells. When the week ends, it subtracts 20% from the cost of spells. When the Week of Spells Costing Less starts, it subtracts 25% from the cost of spells. When the week ends, it adds 33% to the cost of spells. When theses events go off correctly, the prices of spells do roughly what they are supposed to. 5/4 * 4/5 = 1, and 3/4 * 4/3 = 1 as well.
However, if the events don't go off properly, as often happens when a week is the first or last week of a scenario and happens periodically when you are playing online regardless because th Conflux is a PoS, then you'll end up with only one of those multipliers in effect. And it lasts forever.
The only solution is to restart. Restart the scenario, or even restart the campaign. The modifications to mana costs do not go away ever if the week of whatever ends without triggering properly.
Now, you may wonder why the weeks are handled internally to the program as a series of permanent multipliers instead of an If/Then multiplier checked at each casting. That's... a really good question. I honestly can't think of a single reason to have characters collect permanent mana cost increases or decreases because if the week was handled as an object instead it would all go away at most one day after it was supposed to.
On the plus side, you can do this the other way too. Restart the campaign until the Week of Mana Storm is the first week. Your heroes won't have their spell costs increased because of the order of implementation for scenario starts. Then when the week ends your heroes will enjoy permanent cost breaks on all spellcasting for the rest of the campaign.

tvm for the help, thx for the nice explanation hobo2.
So, I probably must have finished the map 2 in the week of the expensive spells. And then, as the game saves the hero progression through the campaign, only the 2 heroes from the map 2 got the multipliers permanently (I guess because the ending event didn't trigger, like hobo2 said).
But this is a bit strange also, cos this could mean you would be accumulating week modifiers every map while playing the campaign. Or maybe, the reason to the event didn't trigger might be some rare exceptional bug.
I'm replaying the map 2 now, I'll pay attention this time.
thx again for the help!

Well, you got a set that is all about mana and mana regeneration with irina, that set can nullify that annoying bug.

sorry I forgot to give a feedback, after replaying the map 2 the things are normal in the map 3.
Another thing I forgot to mention that could influence this problem. I was using the Shrine of the celestial waters all the time.
