Poll Question: Do you like the combat music in MMH6?
Do you like the Combat music in MMH6? I personaly dont and I think it should be changed and improved. It just doesn't feel like a a battle anymore, and music was always one of the important parts in the HoMM series.

All non-recycled themes are either unimpressive or bad, not only the combat music. The recycled on the other hand are... recycled. This has to be the first time when Paul and Rob are on a par with the Ubi-X standards rather than above them.

Considering that I have background music on nil for H6, I still regard the combat music as superior to those of other Heroes games.

Haven's music is good. Stronghold, Inferno, and Sanctuary are 'meh'. The Necropolis music doesn't even make sense; if you listen to it, it sounds like it should go with an Academy city floating in the clouds.
The fact that there aren't real town screens also decreases the value of the music. Having strong visuals + strong audio will make each of them greater than the sum of their parts. That's the whole reason that plays and later movies always had background music, or that opera was composed with a story with actors to watch, as opposed to just having people standing up on the stage wailing.

Necropolis music actually does make sense lorewise. Personally, its my favorite track.
But yeah, overall the music is pretty bad. And extremly repetive.

Thank you Xerox, for pointing that out and I would second that.
Overall I think the soundtrack is pretty good, though I could agree with the repetativeness of some songs.
Here is the main problem. We've been spoiled rotten. The last three Heroes game has had an AMAZING soundtrack and now we get one that is simply good. Yeah, it pales in the light of say Heroes 3 Necropolis, or Heroes 5 Sylvan or Academy. Yet if it were any other game, we would not have been complaining.
I think a vocal track in a few might spruce things up a bit. And point to sit back a bit might help as well.

But Necropolis is far different from Academy, even before the war , and they're soon-to-be mortal enemies, like Sylvan and Dungeon. Ah well.
But yeah, I'd agree that the soundtrack is roughly as good as H2/H3, which is to say that it's a disappointment compared to the treat people were given in H4/H5. The background music actually sounds like background music, as opposed to an attention-grabbing soundtrack that can tingle your spine.

Recycled tracks are good. I totally loved the music that was playing on the map selection screen in beta.
The rest... well to be honest, it wasn't impressive

i like the H6 music a lot. combat music, town music, adventure map music etc. it's awesome. reason may be that they remade and improved music from previous Heroes games.
H6 music is far better than in any other previous Heroes game.

So you like the new music because it's the old music? And the old music is better than the old music? Erm... can't compute.

Completely subjective and useless post here, but as far as combat music go,
none of the other soundtracks measure up to H2's,
except for maybe this from H3 and this from H5.
The combat music in H6 is competent, but I don't think it compliments the art style of the game (or rather; vice versa) that well.
Moreover, it's not particularly memorable (IMO), although the reason for this could be due to a lack of nostalgic memories.
Unrelated, but regarding the Necropolis theme:
Having listened to it, it kinda reminds me of the H3 Conflux theme.
Maybe that is why so many people dislike it

it does sound a bit like a circus theme but that's what I love about it
I love the concept of a dark, scary and twisted circus

I very strongly <3 the Heroes 3 Stronghold town music. Still not as good as the best ones in H4/H5, but it's notably better than the other H3 towns imo.
Every single town music in Heroes 4 is amazing except for Might. H4 Preserve takes the crown, with Asylum also being really awesome. The music in Heroes 4 in general was wonderful.
The H5 town music is all either good or amazing except for Fortress.

The best town music was Fortress's!!! Stronghold siege theme is the game's top for me, Dungeon battle also being the third best.
Anyway. I also don't like the battle music of any faction in H6. The only very good music in the game are Inferno theme and snow theme. The others are either ok or plain boring.

The new Necropolis theme is so much better than that of Hreoes 5 it's not even funny.
I like most of the music and I don't mind recycling at all, overall I think the music is better than in H5. Except the Haven theme which is so dull. I also like how Anton's theme sounds like Raelag's theme, one of my favs.

That many? Really? I'm suprised...the H3 Conflux theme is my favourite HOMM theme...
Oh, well.
All in all, I'm very satisfied with the H6 soundtrack. The combat music though, I consider average at best.
And the Necropolis theme has grown on me. Circus of death, indeed...

I used to not like how small the maps are, but if they were bigger than trapping units would be nigh impossible and anyone could go anywhere, so this size is probably better for strategy.
