I Expect This Has Been Done Before, But I Can't Find It..
On the RoE hidden campaign, does anybody elses computer kick back to desktop when they visit the oblesks? If yes, how in the word am I meant to compelete the scenario?! Arrrggghhh! Why do these things always happen to ME?

That is odd indeed yes.
I beat that whole campaign for the first time last month with no problems, weird maybe have to restart or try it again.
I hope you dont have to start everything over but I am sure someone will help with cd cases of platinum #58

You may try restarting but try different moves - sometimes it helps.
There are patches already - but I guess they don't help enough...

Blasphemy! How dare you speak of our beloved game that way?!
...and how can it look differently after being patched? ...the version number changes, but besides that, some game files are just changed around somewhat...
...oh and btw, since the campaigns are a joke to play, if you'rejust going through them for the value of the pretty cool stories, then I'de say just forget about them. There are certaintly better things to do with your time

They should make the campaigns as hard as Command & Conquer 1 playing as Allies. Allies are much weaker by nature and they have about 15 senarios that progressively get harder. That's a very hard campaign. The best games should have some very easy campaigns for beginners and some impossible for experts.

Campaigns are way cool!
Yes the AI is bad - but still the point system at the end of the game keeps you replaying and next time to spend less days on such map.
The S.O.D. campaign wasn't so good anyway...

...and yeah, I enjoyed the campaigns, but it's not like you can't do without them if need be...and of course being the weirdo I am, I only played the campaigns once through, and simplyreserved all my time for the single scenarios

Actually...
...I'm replaying those RoE campaigns these days. This time on impossible difficulty, since I wasn't previously aware this could be done.
It's a whole different story.
Much better though

Well, I play campaign mainly for storyline
and some fun coz the first thing I do after
buying homm is go for campaign.
RoE campaigns are generally easy. AB with some a bit difficult ones while SoD is a bit more challenging
except the stupid campaign design so that heroes you
carefully developed can't be transferred between
senarios. It sucks.
Btw, there are some great player-made campaigns. Go
h3trio or AW. Try the one "Eternal Love". It's not
for beginners though.

I've heard of the error before - can't visit obelisks without game crashing, in seeds of discontent campaign - even reproduced it on my own system, I think. See the AstralWizard Bugwatch page for HOMM3. Unfortunately, I don't remember any solution - only that I *did* play through the campaign okay when I first tried. Is the obelisk optional, by any luck?

You know cat I think I remember where the grail is it's in the upper hand where you have to fight the pack of angels it's on the very top almost if it's the one i'm thinking about with the unicorns

this is a bit off the thread but i've got to know:
1. Excuse my ignorance but how exactly do you change the difficulty in the campaigns of heroes III RoE?
2. With SOD, the map discription of the last scenarios of the first 4 campaigns says that the main heroes with ALL of their skills, experience, and spells will be transferred into later campaigns. It's not working for me. When I start the sixth one, where Gelu, Crag Hack, Gem and Yog are reintroduced, they have don't have many of the skills which I have strenuously made them learn in the early campaigns *sob*. Is this a bug, or is it just screwed up? 
I would appreciate any advice. Cheers.

Welcome to the longest campaign ever! 12 maps await your gaming pleasure with 5 different heroes to control and carry over, and your heroes start out at level 25! That's the good news. The bad news is that these level 25 heroes are not the same ones you carefully groomed from the previous campaigns. Due to some limitations in the campaign game engine, heroes cannot be transferred between campaigns. Having the verbage in the last map of each campaign that you can transfer heroes is certainly misleading though! (NWC acknowledged that this was a "misunderstanding").
Well, that leaves you with plain vanilla level 25 heroes, with a random distribution of primary attributes and a random (within class) selection of secondary skills. No power-ups have been visited, and they have empty spell books. It is time to hit the "Re-roll" button (Restart Scenario) until you get a decent secondary skill selection. This is NOT considered cheating!!! It is a matter of a having control over your hero, and it's the least you can do to make up for not getting your real hero carried over. Mikai, that "misunderstanding" almost made me wreck my computer. I spent all that extra time risking a crappy score to tailor make those heroes and to give them some decent competition against my uber-Sandro. What a disappointment@!!!
NWC, you dropped the ball on this one--big time.
