Elven Trigonate
This is an idea of having 3 Elf-Including Factions in an HoMM.
Note that these
In past HoMMs you only had these:
Dark-Elves - In HoMM, Dark Elves were with Dungeon in past times.
Wood-Elves - Wood-Elves had different alliances, but allways were in the forest faction (obviously)
Yet, I will alter this a bit.
In this proposal, the factions for the Elves will be:
Keep for the Ice Elves (the more darkish, "evil" ones), Fortress for the Wood Elves (also being the most traditional of elves) and Citadel for the Sea Elves, a freedome-loving and, for elven standards, open-minded folk.
The Backgrounds of course are exchangeable, though I think they are nice for a flavor. Important is the ingame concept of 3 very different Factions with Elves.
Note: Elves are marked in the Lineups.

Aka: The Frosthearts
Symbol: A Blade with an Ice Crystal as Hilt
Color: White, light Blue and Dark Grey
Main Race: No dominant race?
Country: The Frozen Lands
Capitol: The Frozen Fortress, "Winterheart"
Motto: "Embrace the cold."

-Hunter > Headhunter/? (Ice Elf)

Normally, I'm rather partial to your ideas.
However this one I am not partial to. I find 2 factions with Elves too much, let alone 3. Elves should stick to their bows in the forrest and don't go dabble in other territories best left to more suitable races.
I know I'm not being constructive with this, but I am still putting it out there.

I expected that comment to appear, though I hadn'T expected it by you.
However exactly that is why I wanted to show an idea in which it is so. Also, I mentione din the first post, that the factions should not be as elven-oriented as for exampel in H5. Rather, the elves should be 1 unit, maybe 2 in a faction. Not more.

I'm not sure of the idea, I mean my probably-never-going-to-be-finished proposal has 4 lots of 'elves' (where elves are rather more like the older descriptions of 'spirits in human form' than anything out of Tolkien), wood elves, ice elves, angels, and djinn. They only get two units per faction though, those being generally a male archer and a female caster.

Well in my case the Elves are survivors of a long-past war between themselves and 'the demons' (back when they were all still humanish). The result was that the demons were mostly banished, while the angels sort of half-ascended to become spiritual being and ensure that such a thing could never happen again. The reason why there are several different varieties is because of politics, the Wood elves were basically what you'd think of as Roman-era Germanic tribes (they just want to protect their forests), the Ice elves basically isolationists (they just want to stay far enough out of the way to avoid another war if it does happen), the Angels are similar to the Christian church (they want to spread and maintain order so that the demons can't gain another foothold), and the Djinn are basically scientists (mostly apolitical, but against the demons because they'll quash some areas of research).
As to suggestions:
For the Keep: Elite - Thunderbird > ?.
For the Fortress: Core - Badger > Stink Badger, Lynx - Panther. Elite - Boar > War Boar, Stag > Qilin, Dryad > ?. Champion - Dendroid > Eldar Dendroid
For the Citidal: Core - Seal > Selkie. Elite - Naiad > Neried. Champion - Sea Serpent > Leviathan

Sounds interesting. have you posted that proposal yet?
the suggestions sound quite nice. maybe somewhat many fortress beasts.
EDIT:
the citadel will definitely get Sirens, probably as Mermaid > Siren/?
Not sure about the nereids, therefore.
Sea Serpent is a sure thing as well, though nto necessarily champion (though probable)
I will probably also put in Kraken (Elite, or maybe champion).
The Sea Elf unit may be the Sailor > Corsair/Bloodfisher? (melee) and/or the Bard > Stormsinger/Wavedancer (caster) The letter could also be a different unit. Maybe not the elves but the mermaids shall get the caster role?

Not yet, It's still very much a work-in-progress, or rather, a work-that-died-in-progress, I don't have much time to work on it these days, and I'm still hung up on how best to arrange the creatures, 3 levels isn't really enough to my mind, but 7 is too many, 3 is a good number of creatures for level choice, but 3 levels of 3 creatures plus the Champion could lead to a glut of samey-samey creatures...

@zehir: hmmm, I think you see the factions completely different htan I described the backgrounds. Pixie would probably be more for fortress. Treant DEFINITELY! Your forttress seems a completely different faction, now - and includes no elves. THe whole thing was about doing 3 elf-includiong factions...

My current thinking is 2-3-3-1 where the first tier (Militia) units are basically, tier 1-2 in the old system, and are the ones you start off with, and the only ones you can build without a Fort.

Not until I can get my factions properly worked out, it's not just the creatures (although those are a problem, I do have several factions that share what are basically the same creature), but the racial abilities as well, of all the factions I've got to work with, I've only got about 4 with more-or-less everything.
