the Elder Scrolls: Online
So... this is all over the internet, except here for some reason. Sure, it's been rather quiet for the last 24 hours or so, but still.
So apparently the yet to be released issue of Gameinformer got leaked somehow and some scans ended up on reddit. To reduce the damage done they simply revealed some stuff themselves. Or someting along those lines.

So, all over the internet people seem to be mostly sceptical. They don't want yet another fantasy MMORPG with grindy and slow combat with little variation and makrobased balance. Me myself is an advocat for imbalance for all games, as long as they are not too PvP focused. If balance is a secondary issue you allow for sneaky and well thought out exploits and a LOT of actual variation (not as in you can choose wether your damagedealing spell is fire or lightning based (affecting only restances and what not), but spells with actually different mechanics). A prime example for this is the other TES-games or Diablo II, where balance certainly wasn't a primary concern. In D2 there are builds that border on beng exploits and that's simply because balance wasn't macrobased (based on numbers, levels and what-not). Instead they were balanced between micro, makro and risk.
Focusing on only fire damage for example would allow for a high makro power and wouldn't require very difficult microcontrol, but it would be a risk, since you might run into an enemy with fire immunity.
In D2 my favourite build is a super-offencive assassin. I'd have sick damage and speed (both movement and attack), while having very little health. It was very powerful macrowise (numberwise), but it required a lot of very fast and precise micro from my end (ending up with the most stressful battles I've ever played in any kind of characterbased game (maybe in any game ever)). The risk was my micro then, since if I made a mistake my character could die in the blink of an eye (literally).
Same thing kind of goes for the TES-games, where timeinvestment was an issue, rather than micro. Alchemy and enchanting are clearly overpowered (long lasting paralyze and enoguh damage from all elements to kill any opponent in the game? Yeah, it's possible in Morrowind at least), but they require a lot of knowledge from your end (understanding of the game mechanics) and a lot of pre-battle time investment.
EDIT: Also saw the punchline/slogan: "From Skyrim to Morrowind and everything inbetween." and I hope you find that utterly hillarious.
Quote: It needs to be comfortable for people who are coming in form a typical massively multiplayer game that has the same control mechanisms, but it also has to appeal to Skyrim players.
But with comments like that, I doubt I'll get the game I wanted... I will, however, try and bury my extreme prejudice until I actually know more.

I don't really care, and from what I understand it fortunately will not impact the production of "real" Elder Scrolls games, as Bethesda's devoted an entirely different branch of their company to work on this stuff. The team that has been producing Skyrim, Oblivion and so on are left to do their thing.

For anyone with a bit of knowledge on Tamriel geography... yeah that's hilarious ^^
EDIT:
HC broke your links btw.

It'll still have an impact lorewise, and if it grows popular it will certainly affect the outcome of TES VI. It's also a large project for Bethesda, even if they assign a branch to it... Besides, I do believe that WoW for example has severely delayed Warcraft IV, even though it's a completely different game.

The Elder Scrolls series is now dead to me.
The Might & Magic franchise is dead to me.
I wish Google could be dead to me but I'm kinda dependent on YouTube... and Google
Don't know about the game mechanics as I don't play MMOs,
but the art direction is nothing to write home about.

You do realise that I now see a multiplayer version of this, rather than something along the lines of the arena in Oblivion, right?

Well yeah, first thought of calling it Arena 2 but the gameplay wouldn't be anything like it so... ^^
