~ Heroes 6 patch 1.4 - Discussion thread ~

This thread is for discussing your oppinions on the most recent patch 1.4 for Might And Magic: Heroes 6.

The patch was released on may 16th.

To discuss the previously latest versions of the game, patch 1.2 or 1.3, use the old discussion thread.







This is the current change list for version 1.4:

The patch 1.4 release notes are as follows:

- Added the Custom Map Exchange feature, allowing players to download missing maps in the lobby, from the host.
- Added the Archipelago map, previously available only during the Christmas event, in Skirmish mode (solo and multiplayer)
- Added features in the map editor:

o Help Files: Added tutorials in the Map Editor
o Initial Map Setup: Set a trigger to set up the initial structure allowing to save a map right after creation
o Unified Object Behavior: Implemented unified behavior for all affected objects (e.g.: object selection, scaling, rotation handling, etc.)
o Mini map: Removed the non-functional mini map from the Map Editor

Well, I think them giving us a map is pretty cool, that and the work being done on the map maker. Even if they have only done a small part to making the map maker better, it's still a step in the right direction.

About the new map, anyone else finding it has an extremely long loading time?

On youtube, Paul Anthony Romero has released some of his original recordings for the Heroes VI town themes. Even one for an unused town(Which given it's name and feel may very well point to Academy(It's the Ottoman one))

but we know for a fact that Academy was being developed and is most likely being shipped in the first expansion

It's not the top one, that is indeed stronghold. It's the one called Ottoman, which is the 5th from the top.

Also, what proof do we have, other than the words of the disgruntled former BH employee?

I know, but there's a part of Stronghold in the Ottoman one I think.

This track was created for the Haven Town. You can hear this music (its a little bit changed version) in Credits and in the Haven Fort.

Yeah I also think Academy is next faction mainly for your first and last points above....desert terrain could be anything and Rakshasa might not be in because it resembles Naga faction too much (Kenshi)

As the ex-black hole employee mentioned that deadlines weren't met and they had to exclude the 6th faction from vanilla release, if Academy, I am wondering what racial the faction will have....maybe as your racial guage goes up, you can put artificers (or skill/ability enhancements) on your troops in battle?

in my Academy proposal to idea was that creatures would be able to teleport (Warp) as the gauge charges

the teleport would also give the teleported creature the turn if the creature had not acted yet

I don't expect that. that would come as a surprise, since that faction always relied on strong range attacks.

maybe it will be as simple as empowered spells. or mark of the wizard (with the gauge at level 1, you can mark core creatures, at level 3 you can mark champions...)

@Fauch -> Empowered spells would only work for magic academy, if you were might academy won't help....but what magic school will magic academy be affiliated to anyway?

Human -> Light
Necro -> Dark
Inferno -> Fire
Naga -> Water
Orc - Air

So we have Earth and Prime left.....maybe Academy has affiliation to all schools?

Maybe the Academy racial has something to do with War machines, i.e. there's an extra ballista in their line-up or they can tamper/sabotage enemies.....

If you look into the system files of the game, you'll see that the planned racial for Academy is Unclear Existence - gives 0-100% something to happen based on the money spent by Ubisoft on the game's expansion(s). Like Inferno's racial, it's Luck-based, however it uses the RL Luck mechanics. I myself find it pretty thrilling.

While you being sarcastic, it actually would be a cool name for the racial: "Unclear Existence" sounds cool!
Bet Academy will have something to do with war machines (like not only for siege battles but normal battles too and catapult damages troops) or something to do with Mark of the Wizard (from H5)....

I just read the first answer and all I can say is WOW!!! Quality and on time delivery... These are the two terms I would not use when speaking about Heroes VI.. no with all best feelings towards a game.. NO
