NWC:s H5
So remember all those screenshots from NWC:s unfinished H5?
Yeah, they have updated that website...
And it includes actual creature animations!

In an alternate universe, Heroes fans are still playing with this game... *sigh*
Those frogs, turtles, 2 headed giants and stuff, those were not for H5, right? Which game is that?

Didn't want to spoil the fun, but unfortunately none of the animations was made for Heroes 5. Those were made for other projects that the artist has worked on during the past years.

Maybe if you contact the artist, you can get some more development images?
I am also very curious about all those unused Naga structures and units found in the TotE files. Unfinished neutrals or was Sanctuary actually being developed?

As far as I know the only remaining images are those that Tracy posted on her portfolio.
As for the TotE Naga files, those were neither neutral units nor an actual faction. You might say that those were... placeholders made for a specific purpose.

I suspect that purpose is that they were to be used for Nival's take on H6 which might have been supposed to include a Naga/Far eastern faction. =)
I find it quite sad that we will likely never get to know anything about all those cancelled projects. :/

Sounds like a fairly resonable guess.
And indeed, there were many fun projects that unfortunately will never see the light of day.

Not really. From what I heard, they were suppose to be a faction but during development most of files were lost and Naga faction was scrapped.

Sorry Avonu, but as far as Nival's stuff is concerned I do have first hand info, so I know what I'm saying. The Naga faction was never supposed to enter Heroes V. At first the Naga was to be an Academy unit, which later got turned into a neutral, but got reimagined as a separate faction yet before the release of the game. Unfortunately when deciding on the content for the expansion packs, the Nagas got scrapped in favor of Fortress and Stronghold, however it had happened yet before any work on them has started.

That's funny because when Erwan was asked about Sanctuary in HV and remaning files in game said it was mentioned reason. After all, there were at least 4 different models of units in game + temple building.

Erwan said what he was allowed to, for the same reason I'm not telling you specifically what were those models made for. That content was never to be seen by any of the fans, as it was part of a specific contract between Ubisoft and Nival Interactive. The fact that someone extracted the models was very troublesome and shouldn't have happened.
You don't really think that a company developing a game can simply "loose" a bunch of files made for a faction and switch to another one as an outcome, do you?

@Dexter : What are you trying to say is that Nival is developing something (Might&Magic) new right now?

@Adriancat: Oh God no. Nival is no longer working with Ubisoft (to all my knowledge at least) and I don't think anybody would like to get back to that period again. The content that Avonu mentioned, which could be found in the TotE files, was created back in 2006 (if I'm correct) but it never had anything to do with Heroes V. On the other hand, it wasn't specifically content made for Heroes VI either. It was something in-between, as suggested by Cepheus in his article: http://www.celestialheavens.com/viewpage.php?id=779

Maybe they were planning a turn-based HoMM-like MMORPG?
I'm hoping, that since all those projects were scrapped, we will some day see more screenshots and information about the NWC:s H5 and Nival's H6.
