DIABLO 2
Allright, Diablo 2..
I have a question on how the fanta do i get Diablo 2 LoD working on my Windows 7, 64 bits laptop?
I have tried evrything i could find on the net.
Updated Video Driver to the latest
Updated the game to patch 1,13d
Updated to the lates Direct X.
Made the game run in XP service pack 2 mode as Admin.
Re-installed the game! TWICE for schweppes sake!
I have checked every security program i have, to see if they where the problem! And guess what! NO!
Whenever i try to start up the game, i always gets the same message:
diablo 2 unhandled exception access violation (c00005)
Can someone please tell me if they know the answer to this problem?

I don't have a problem on my windows 7 64 bit desktop.

You may not need to re-install the game. Try to run the video test again. It can probably be found in the same folder the diablo 2 shortcut is placed. During the video test, mark the 2d option in stead of the auto choosen 3d option. Then retry running the game.

If all else fails, you need to use a virtual machine. If you have Widows 7 pro or ultimate edition, you can do so easily. If not, you need some program that can establish a virtual machine.

Is this the official diablo 2 thread?
So if others have played duel games like me and wondered if it's possible to catch a sorc who's teleporting like crazy..
Well I found a homepage with the formulas for running speed, screen size and cast rate break points.. but instead of making it realistic, I decided to see what the maximum movement speed values where.. that's for totally hacked characters.
A sorc's top speed is 25 / 7 ~ 3.5 teleportations pr. second, which is doable without cheating. The speed of a sorc depends on the screen size. Screen size and movement speed is measured in yards.
The smallest screen size is 20 yards in the shortest direction, and the largest screen size is 42.6 yards in the longest direction. This sets a minimum and maximum teleportation speed at: (screen size / 2 [you're in the middle of the screen]) * (25 / 7) which gives an interval of:
35.5 - 76.0 yards / second.
If one were to hack a character for absolute maximum non-teleport moving speed, the two options are charging and running.
Given skill level 99 Frenzy, BoS, Vigor. With maxed out FRW from items (diminishing returns in the formula [150 * x / (150 + x)] means there isn't a large difference between say, 300% and 30000%) and from skills, which is 327%, the maximum running speed and charging speed are:
Running: 36 yards / second
Charging: 51 yards / second
So in conclusion, even when hacking the items, it's not possible to move faster than a sorcerer can teleport.. unless the sorceress doesn't teleport optimally.

There was a rune armor that gave teleporting ability to anybody. It was a wonderful armor with many other bonuses as well. Try getting that. The necromancer becomes unbeatable with it since when he teleports, all his minions also get together and teleport with him in a flash.
Edit: Here it is. It brings back so many memories, I slashed so many demons with this...

Yeah, the Enigma armor runeword is probably one of the, if not the, most powerful item in the game.
Though when it comes to moving speed, only a barbarian can challenge the casting speed of a sorceress, so other characters won't be able to move quite as fast, but almost as fast anyway, except for the amazon.
casting rate break points
Druid's gets minions stacked on them as well.
Edit: For minion stacking, charges of teleport from other items also works well and like you say, it's a really powerful combination in this game.

Diablo II LoD modding
Since few days I went into figuring out ways to mod D II. This however brought me to the fact to download and try many D II mods. And since this was quite an effort I decided to rar them and share with friends. If you are into modding, here are [url=https://my.pcloud.com/publink/show?code=kZMoAdZdLUqNmsJGzBAbBUWNTFBbmuafk1V] [/url] eight different versions of diablo II.
Note1: There is a way to have the mods without downlaoding so much gigas, however it is pain in the ... to make them work and compile them, so I figured out some people will want it pancake-ready. 
Note2: What you must do is dwonload the 7.9 giga rar with all the mods, extract it anywhere(not on C probably). Downlod the 500 mega zip and unzip it somewhere safe and quick to be mounted with daemon tools. There is crack and 1.10 blizz update into this zip but you should be not interrested into it, its extra files.
Note3: When you extracted everything and mounted the image file you can start to play or mod each of the eight D II versions from the sub-folders. Few of them should run even without mounting the image.
The list is:
-Eastern sun 3.00 (mod)
-Eastern sun 2.20 (mod)
-LoD 1.10 (vanilla, baby)
-ZyEl (mod)
-Valhalla (mod)
-Chaos Hordes (mod)
-Ancestral (mod)
-Chaos Empire (mod)
If yo uwant to run your D II in small window, make a desktop shortcut, click properties, and in the first field add behind the text:

-w -ns -res800 -sleepy
------------------
If any problem occurs, try installing regular LoD before extracting the 7.9 giga. But anyway I don't think any issue will appear.

Great to see you find it useful. Here I uploaded [url=https://my.pcloud.com/publink/show?code=kZ2AadZWv8RuphPwfztUkCCkF9t0zxwFgek][/url] 5 of the mods' readme or info files. Best open them with Word or Adobe Reader. I also included a zip with the install files for 5 of the mods (except eastern sun and vanilla) it is 260 MB, so for all who have the knowledge necessary they might find it quicker to download just this, not the 7.9 giga.

 STORM RUST IS OUT
I humbly offer you to come and enjoy the Mod for Diablo 2 I made to rejuvenate the old game once more.
Storm Rust is the name of the Diablo II LoD Mod I've scrambled for myself and other LoD Fans (as you) with the help of the Phrozen Keep Community.
The main goal of the Mod Storm Rust is to retain the original LoD Gameplay, yet to push you towards mastering the class you choose to play, focusing on tactics, momentum, concentration, immersion and leaving you but a little space to breathe, so you don't fall into click-click-got-bored situations. To reach that goal I had to completely change several main aspect of the game such as:
-Increased Difficulty
-Item Lore/Affix Lore (completely)
-Runes/Runewords/Crafting (completely)
There are other numerous minor changes, such as:
-Shops (partially)
-Gamble (partially)
-Hirelings (partially)
...and more
I hope I would be able to drive you out of your skin with this mod and let you experience genuine Diablo inspiration, while playing.
INSTALL:
-get yourself running Diablo II LoD

So I guess Diablo II remake is far off.
With the highly discussed blunder Blizzard has presented to their fans at this years Blizzcon, things seem grim (though ultimately this might lead to a faster production of either DII remake or DIV). I never was a big fan of Diablo franchise (though I ofc did play and enjoyed both II & III), but even I'm offended with their treatment of the core fanbase. That said I'm more offended by people who attack the fanbase and their discontent going so far as to even call it, quoute, "toxic masculinity" or living under the rock (cus mobile is future), because the latter don't accept mobile gaming as a whole. Figures. Since when did diplomatically displaying ones discontent (the "april fools joke" guy) has become perceived as being rude and out of place. In what times are we living in? Yep, being called cavemen by the oh-so-enlightened hipster goodie two shoes is a joke in itself...
Funny observation, but one thing that I did notice in D: Immortal trailer is that there isn't a single drop of blood in the cinematic. Yeah, this is what became of a franchise which priests in Sunday schools presented as examples of satanic influence...
Sorry if bringing this mess to the HC makes you roll your eyes, but I just can't turn a blind eye to this. I'm concerned with where Blizzard is going...
PS: Various streamers are having their Virtual Tickets content blocked. Yes, tickets that they paid for. Not to mention reuploading the trailer, or deleting negative comments and dislikes. Dick move Blizzard.

Oh my god(which one, choose for yourself like adults), the butthurt over that freemium trailer is off the bleeping charts. 
Had a good laugh at it in general, despite me being somewhat of a Blizzard fanboy and liking the vast majority of their product.
But I guess it is a disapointment for the core Diablo fanbase, that instead of a D3 expansion, or a new installment altogether we've got this.

Well, you know the butthurt isn't about the game itself? I mean, people might even pick it up.
It's about how it was presented (main focus point of opening ceremony, because it was the last game shown), and what Blizzard is doing in the aftermath (deleting comments, pretending nothing happened or "do you not use smartphones?" alusions).

a bit less whiner entitlement there, Blizzard has never as far as I've known delivered a product as ****** as Heroes 5, let alone Heroes 6 or 7 lol
for sure that company has not been up to its best since Starcraft 1 or Warcraft 3 days but still a very strong track record to deliver, plus you are clearly getting the Diablo 4 sooner to later, if Ubisoft ever handled Heroes halfway like they did there would be nothing to moan cheers lol

Blizzard is like: "hold my beer"
I would say they still had it in them since recent years (even after W3). But seriously, they are on the wrong track. I didn't want to admit it, but Activision is spreading its tentacles deeper and deeper, and Blizzard is loosing their heart for money. Times have changed I know, but notice how before each of their new game had this "exclusive" feel about it. Now it's starting to really meld together. And all of it dipped in microtransctions sauce. It just feels a little too disturbing.
We have to wait and see, but people will not forget this farce...
