Thunder - it's been made clear to you now that junk posts don't belong at HC. I tried to do it privately but now this is your public warning. Posts like this add nothing to discussion and only make it harder for people to have a serious discussion about the topic at hand. Keep the one word junk posts to the VW. Better yet, don't post them at all.
If you can't learn to trim down the spam level, I'll have to silence you for a while.

Quote: Checked on this brand. 9% alcohol volume? Not something I'd normally drink, but this beer doesn't seem to be some crap that degenerates would drink. I'd actually like to try this one.
There are a few brews with %Alc > 8% that I think are pretty good, particularly stronger, winter varietals. However I usually opt for those in the 6-8% sweet spot.
If you can find Old Rasputin, it's a great brew. Don't know how easy it is to find American microbrews in Europe, though.

That doesn't sound much like beer, the local versions are between 4.5% and 5.5% and the upper limit is considered too "alcoholic". As far as I know some 30 years or so ago the beer was made with no more than 3% alcohol, lasted a few days at most and was considered much better than today's versions because it actually tasted like beer. I never had the chance to try its original self but from what I remember from my first encounters with this drink some 16-17 years ago - when there were still a number of producers making something like that - it was indeed better than what we have nowadays. If I want a strong drink, I wouldn't get a beer anyway.

I'm not sure if I have a preference; it really all depends on how the alcohol mixes up with everything else. It was my understanding that a beer is typically around 5%, whereas wines are more in the 9% range.
I've had blackberry & plum wines as strong as 16% and I was still pretty pleased. Strong alcohol taste, but they made it work.

Sadly all beer that comes from US to Europe is the crap kind. But I do have some of my friends that are traveling through the States, and I'll ask them to bring back some. Unless it won't pass the airport security.

I'd like to disagree with that.
I regulary consume dark beers, and it helps keep my high blood pressure in check.
and this is just one of many qualities of beer.
