DLC content, what should be in a DLC

Hello to all

This topic is dedicated to any future DLC that might come or is on its way. It look like Ubi will publishe more the one, so it would be nice if they knew what we as palyers expect from a DLC. Since this form of distribution and content is now to Heroes.

Let us use the Pritates of the Savage sea as a guidline

- Price (at release): 8-10€

Content:
- 2 map Campaigne
- 1 scenarion
- New heroes (8 campaigne, 4-5 scenario)
- 1 Dynasty Weapon
- 1 artifact set (6 artifacts (2 relic, 2 major, 2 minor)
- 1 new boss
- 1 new Dynasty treat.
- 1 new feature (Dynasty pet)
- 6 new achievements
- (partialy new map object Elemental conflux)
- New main menu background
- New music

Please write your opinos what should be changed, added etc. to make any potentional upcaming DLC Better.

p.s. if I have left any feature out or wrote it incorrectly please feel free to correct me.

And to start it of:
Bringing in new heroes is Ok but with the curret managing system it is a real mess. It would be nice not to bring so many heroes in.

What I would like to see is
Atleast 1 more map to the campaigne.
More new map objects, especialy dwellings and resource related buildings like the windmill
New neutrals (1-2 in every DLC)
Price to be 8€ at max, not minimum.

You forgot the awesome new remix of one the best 'songs' of the Franchise ever. I.E. Crag Hack's theme being a remix of the Heroes 3 Stronghold towntheme.
(Will look into this with somewhat less haste when I get back from work tonight.)

I still think that instead of making dlc's they should put all their effort into making an expansion pack. One new faction per expansion should be enough (altought I would like to see at least two)

But... if they insist on making dlc:
- more special hero models AND new specializations, because most of the new heroes are practically clones of other heroes with new portraits
- lower price for bonus heroes. How can I buy all those heroes if they cost so much. Before the dlc I had like 160 achievements and already most of me tokens spent on bonuses. And new achievements give only 1000 game tokens at max WTF?
- some more new buildings and neutrals would be nice (I'm still waiting for the wolf dwelling )

I didn't buy Pirates and probably wont (you see, I get no wellfare this month =P) untill the price decreases or when my economy imrpoves a bit. But I MIGHT have bought it anyway if:

- If it was about a faction I liked. I don't really like Stronghold and for one sole reason. Harpies. I can't stand their tedious and just painful attack animation that takes ageeeeees to complete.

- New herores with unique models, but they added those.

- If it added a new neutral. Imo, I prefer new neutrals instead of bosses. And the neutral should be recruitable. Or they should start using the bosses on normal maps too.

- New adventure map buildings. A dwelling + something else like the H5 Astronomist or the University of the old games.

First of all, let me say that I have bought Pirates of the Savage Sea and I have enjoyed it very much. IMHO Crag Hack's campaign was the best story we've been given since Heroes V.
And I am going to make a difference between things that no Heroes DLC should be without, things that I would they put in, but are by no means required and things that should be included in either in patches or Expansions but never DLC(unless free, but that would make it a patch IMO). And the reasons why. Also, before we start, price should be adjusted to the ammount of content.

Must:
Maps. Preferable campaigns and scenarios, but any singleplayer maps will do. Give the buyers something new, why don't you.
Free Heroes. I.E. Heroes that need not be bought from the Altar of Wishes. If you give people something new to do, also give them someone new to do that with.

Optional:
Artifacts/Dynasty Weapons. Whether in sets or not, new artifacts/weapons are nice, if they do not cause multiplayer issues.
Bosses and Neutrals. Again, if it does not cause any problems in multiplayer, go ahead and enrich the game of the buyers.
Buyable Heroes. I.E. Heroes that need to be bought from the Altar of Wishes first. Again, if they do not cause problems with multiplayer.
Skins. New skins for exisiting units are nice, for the right price and since they are/should be only visible to the user, they should cause no problems I foresee.
Music. Since music has no effect on gameplay itself, yet hightens the enjoyment of the player. And I would be willing to shell out a few bucks to add some extra music to the game to break the looping.

Impermissible:
Mechanics. If certain mechanics are changed or added in DLC, then it will devide the community, multiplayer foremost, between those that have bought the DLC and those that have not. Needless to say, that's bad.
Factions. Again, this has to do with multiplayer mostly, since I consider it unfair to give a faction only to buyers. And I forsee problems with matches between buyers and non-buyers if the buyers are using the DLC faction.

The content of Pirates DLC was fine, the price wasn't.

10€ is NOT the cost of a DLC, 10€ is 2/3 of the cost of an xpack and Pirates' content was FAR from being the 2/3 of an xpack.

As a comparison, just check one of the Civ 5 DLC. It adds a new civilization with a unique unit, a unique building and a unique trait. It also adds a special map featuring this civilization. A civ 5 DLC adds a lot of replayability and it costs ... less than 4€.

Warlock - Master of the Arcane has a DLC that adds a new race, 18 new units, 20 city buildings, a new hero, new abilities and perks ...all that for 2.99€. Another Warlock DLC adds new game features for 1.99€

For 10€, the Pirates' DLC should have included A LOT more stuff :
- a few new neutral creatures (at least 3-4)
- several maps
- longer campaign
- several new artifacts (and no, the Pirate set does NOT count, it was included in patch 1.5)

Hell, for that price it should even have included a new faction ... Seriously, 10€ is 1/3 of the price of the game nowadays.

New skins would be nice.

A new creature skin could cost like 1 or 2 euros. Perhaps with some changes to the model, like Hammarhead Wanizame. Because it does take 4 seconds to recolour a creature on your own.

Now that I think about it... I just WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO RESIST BUYING HAMMERHEAD WANIIZAMES!

Neither would I Xerox, I suspect. But Skins should come in packs per faction allongside actual content. Or as a big pack for all factions. Never individual units, as that would truely be milking.

I consider DLCs a good option to add more content while addons a mix between extra content and evolution/expansion of gameplay. As such I would want a DLC to have:

A mini campaign, Crag's mission was fairly enjoyable if a bit short.
More maps, the game depends on those.
Addition of neutrals/dwellings/heroes/skins/traits/portraits.
New music.

I asked a user who has just the Deluxe version and haven't bought the DLC Pirates of the Savage Sea and:

- He has access to the Conflux Building
- He can play VARN map
- He can play two scenarios which are essentially the campaign of PotSS without boss, Crag...
- And Nelgirith says that the pirate set is also included for free with 1.5 patch

So I don't think is fair to list all of above as "content of PotSS", because it's not exclusive

PotSS is too way overpriced, I hope that if they announce another one (Sandro), it includes more real and exclusive content

While I liked "Pirates of the Savage Sea" in my opinion it was overpriced for the content it delivered.

Apart form a new campaign I think they should add new creatures (real new creatures, no reskins) more artifacts (especially more diverse and interesting artifacts) and more adventure buildings in future DLC's to give Heroes VI more replayability.

And like everyone else I would really like to see more factions but I think they would suit more a real expansion than a simple DLC.

But from this I can bring up a question.

To reuse the Campaigne/scenario maps for multiplayer purpos,
or create new unique maps for multiplayer and leav the Campaigne/scenarios only their original form.

In the case of DLCs the second, in the case of vanilla game + addons the first.

DLCs should bring exclusive content for the buyers without having big or even medium impact on the game mechanics (so, maps and such should be exclusive imo)

the stuff we saw at the first dlc were ok. the price wasn't! i got it with 50% coupon on steam. so the question would be about the price, not the content. it's a dlc the content was good for a dlc. i mean the two maps, and the artifact sets don't count since you can get them for free. so the actuall stuff that brings and you pay, are the scenarios, the pet and the dynasty weapon:|
