One question.
Are these the numbers for retail only or both for retail and electronic distribution?

Yeah, now add the 4 million from the console market and stop wondering.
I'm not sure how reliable this chart is though - it shows mere 30k sales for the first Witcher which is known to have sold more than 1 million copies. Maybe the digits for the "blockbusters" are more or less accurate but the smaller games look under/overappreciated.

VGChartz doesn't track digital sales, which surpass the retail sales for many PC-Games nowadays by a large margin. You can easily check this by browsing through games like Diablo III, where for example the retail sales represent only 1/4 of the total sales or The Witcher 2, where the retail PC sales represent roughly 1/2 of the total PC sales.

But even in that light I don't know if you can call Heroes VI really a big success. Considering that they still work on the game, it might be at least somewhat profitable. I don't know the total sales of Heroes V, only that is was in terms of sales the most successful Heroes game to date. So I suppose the expectations for Heroes VI were initially probably a bit higher as opposed to how it performed saleswise up to today.

But this is also only partialy true due to the fact that the most copies of Heroes V were sold after ToE and when the price has gone down up to 1/3 of the original price.

I think H6 performed, sales-wise, more or less according to Ubi's expectations. And as long as it proves profitable, they probably see no reasons to change their business strategy.

What this translate to me, though, is wait until the second expansion pack of H7 to buy it If there is a H7, that is...
