This wasn't the case, so I have no idea what you're talking about, since none of these steps were taken against Xerox's mum's vagina comparison.

They weren't. A combined penalty for trolling was slapped. We could technically undo it and penalize particular posts, but why bother after 3 years? Xerox himself admits he was trolling. You can stop being his advocate now, seriously.

Quote: Every opinion is personal and if mods find it disgusting, they will delete it, warn the user, and finally slap a penalty. That's how moderation works and that's how it's supposed to work.
Mods having personal opinions is okay, but that does not making up their own laws right. Should Elvin be able to penalize Aldrius if he makes a joke that he doesn't like? I also didn't get a warning in that case so I guess the moderation didn't quite work there?
-
I have admitted to have been trolling in an offensive manner outside of the VW a few times and got rightfully penalized those times. That should have been enough. You can't justt make up your own rules and dash out penalities based on them. Personally, I think the public should decide what to do here in a poll or something. That would be much better than having 2-3 biased (in this case) mods making such a decision.

Xerox, it's not the offender who decides if the penalty was enough. It's silly to think that way.
I'm not going to speak for angelito but he probably assumed you crossed the line again. I guess you should ask him.
I took part in this thread because I find it stupid that we are discussing this issue after three years. Most of us have forgotten what it was back then. Your old trolling posts are mostly gone. What can we actually discuss about now? memories?
Now if KD came back, acted reasonable and then filled the board with complaints about his 10yo penalty, would you actually want us to discuss with him?

Not if the offender is an innocent. He also has rights.
And penalizing based on assumption is wrong and a mistake. Mistakes can be fixed. Angelito is very welcome to discuss these issues, but he seems to have no interests in doing in and mainly answers in arrogant and sarcastic ways.
The thread is not stupid. It takes up serious issues. The main one being how mods are using their powers and if it is okay to close down threads just because 2-3 people aren't agreeing with its content. It is also an issue of justice. They won't tell an innocentt guy who spent 20 years in prison "Well... tough luck!"
If KD got penalities that were unjustified, then those should be reversed too. We could have a change here. A change for justice and openess.

This would be valid... if it wasn't three years old. That's my point.

And who would be able to judge over all those years, with posts missing, and nobody remembering what it was like? It's not so simple. If the penalty was made yesterday, everything WOULD be simple, but three years after, it's not. Something that most guys here seem blissfully unaware of.
That's about everything I could say about the subject, guess angelito can continue if he wishes to. Since I weren't involved in any of those penalties, I can't really speak for them in particular... I can only say what I think about making a fuss about three year old stuff

Have you got over little Johnny who took your shovel from you in the kindergarten sandpit back then? After all it was an unjust deed against everything what the kindergarten stands for.

I can only repeat it's you who make the fuss.
WE just wanted the penalty to be undone because it was obviously an ill-willed, blinkered penalty.
You proclaimed no and prohibited further discussion and deleted a thread.
You also come up with points like, "it happened some time ago", "he got it coming", and "we have the rightful power". That sounds like the Sheriff of Nottingham.

@clay-man Life isn't fair aye, but instead of little johnny taking your shovel, let's say the teacher/nurse (w/e) takes your shovel unfairly, someone in a position of power and responsibility.
And three years later you finally get the confidence to embark on getting your stolen toy returned, and not only get denied, but laughed at aswell.
If you're going to make analogies at least get the fundamentals right
Moral of the story, don't fight evil, just bend over and take it like the rest of the fools, it's futile to resist anyway. Yet, here we are, and there they are, we stand resolute and absolute, they stand with fear gripping their hearts with an icy clutch. We may perish and be crushed into the ground, but injustice will not go unanswered while we draw breath.
Think it foolish, think it dumb, it matters not for you will flump.

To summarize, the perfect solution will be to remove Xerox's penalty for the post that he complains about and add a few extra penalties for some other old posts of his where he deserves the minus more. Everyone will be happy that justice is served then, no?

Agreed, afterall that's the way things are meant to be. Who the hell thought it a good idea to accumulate a penalty meter for a member without warning and when it's full unleash it on an ordinary post. And this is IF there's any trolling threads, these are just alleged.
What I find funny is this level of discussion would NEVER stand in the osm, if someone alleges something without backing it up, they'd get bludgeoned to death for crying out loud. The moderators have done nothing but evade and allege.
The fact remains that the post in question is NOT only not a troll thread but a contribution, and the mods are still avoiding this with all their might, why did you punish this post and not an actual troll one? The logic behind it is downright disgraceful. Even if a members penalties accumulate (which is against due process which DF posted) why was a contributive post penalized?

I don't really understand the argument here.
Quote: But I have the right to complain about it.
And you did. And the mods said no. Now what?
I have never, in my life, seen someone change their opinion due to reasonable arguing. At best, the person will simply go, "Eh," and change the subject. Never have I seen a person go, "You're right, I'm wrong, I now think that way."
Never.
The mods have made their decision from three years ago. It stands today. You've complained about it, that's in your right. They answered your complaint, and said that the decision stood. Their reasons may be stupid, they may have not said it nicely, but that doesn't matter; what matters is the decision, and that has been made.
Furthermore, it has been clearly pointed out that there would be no more discussion on this topic; hence, there was no more need for the thread.
Am I missing something?

Yes.
How would they decide for everyone else that discussion has to cease or else? How would they decide to delete threads because they think discussion would have to cease.
They might just called it a decision, period - not a sign of, umm, I don't want to offend anyone, so I'll let that rest -, and be done with it, burying head in the sand and playing 3 apes - but how can they tell us that we shouldn't discuss this and delete threads?
Anymore reason than "because they have the power"?

Why do you need another reason? They were appointed, therefore it is within their rights to whatever they feel necessary. You may feel it isn't fair; more than one user may feel it isn't fair. You're not the ones making the calls. Email Val if you don't like this, as Doomforge said; otherwise, there's nothing you can do, as the mods are the ultimate authority. They've said their decision stands, and so it will.

They may be authority but it doesn't necessarily mean they are in the right. Where would they be without us members? Nowhere because there wouldn't be a forum. So I think if they are overstepping their boundries then they step back in them instead of pissing about with their power and thinking they can do what they like because they are higher authority. I'm sorry, but you can't let this s*** go on especially since moderators are supposed to set an example. How's abusing power setting an example?
