Mobile Phone advice
The equivalent to the PC advice thread.
Since mobile phones are quite trendy today and my Nokia 1108 is quite old and and does its job, kudos to Nokia, I went surfing into the internet and am looking for a phone around the price range of 100-200 euro.
The reason is that I want to listen to music while walking, capability of checking EMail when in road etc.
And after 5 hours, I still have not found what I want. That is not because I dont know what I want, thats because how useless most reviews are.
Seriously, 900 euroe phone gets 5 stars? No snow, for that money I can buy more worthy things. Thats a general issue with these reviews, I want the best phone for given price range...
Nevertheless, I actually found some canditates and they go like this:
Mobistel T1 Cynus 181 Euro dualcore 1ghz, Android 4 512 MB ram
HTC ONE V 243 Euro Single core 1ghz Android 4 512 MB ram
Huawei U8860 234 Euro Single Core 1.4 ghz android 2.3 512 MB
Samsung I8160 Galaxy Ace 2 224 Euro Dual core 2x 800mhz android 2.3 768
Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus S7500 194 Euro Single core 1ghz 512 MB
All of them have extendable micro SD card slots.
That is all I really care. I dont care if they have bad cameras, two cameras etc.
Can anyone advise me? I am leaning to the Mobistel T1, its a no name but its specs are awesome. Dunno what to do.
An ideas?

The two options are:
1.You pay for the phone alone.
2.You pay a mobile operator to use his services for a 12 or 24 months.
If you want to pay for the phone alone, than you trace the features of the phone that you want it to have and compare prizes.
Do you think that buying a phone from another country is an option for you or you will buy it from your country?

Well, I did not mention this. No, without mobile operator. The last thing I want is to be bound by some undfriendly company nagging my post box with letters.
Mobile phone without contracts.

It is not as straightforward as you might think.
For example, HTCs dont have removable bateries. Some phones have design issues and so on. I am open for new phone suggestions, especially if they are in Amazon.

Both the HTC and Samsung ones will be good for their money. Think my brother had an Ace 2 before it got hit by a car, was a pretty damn nice phone.
Never heard of that Mobistel thingy.
I was gonna suggest the Motorola Defy for a budget smartphone but it's outside your price range.

Choosing the right phone is from person to person..
I myself have a Galaxy S2, and it took me damn lot of time to figure out wich to choose. But S2 won the most categories, and im more for big screens and android market, so yeah.
But it really depends what you like and is going for.
But here, google will be a better friend than HC. Read alot of critics about phones. And alot of compare sites.

Im cross between the Cynus and Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 I8160.
Is it worth it to pay 40 euro more just because there are reviews for the Samsung? 40 euro is not a small feat, at least for me.
Most reviews speak nice for the Samsung.
There is just one customer review for Cynus in Amazon and that review neither says its bad nor extremely good. But given its price,181 euro, I find it very attractive.
The cynus seems to be made from some not so well known Korean Company.
Specwise, both the samsung and the cynus are equivalent.
Cynus Samsung
Dualcore 1ghz Dualcore 8mhz
512MB ram 768MB Ram
8MP camera 5MP camera
Front camera Front camera
Dual sim No dual sim
Android 4 Android 2.3(Update to 4 available)
Presumed
Cynus has presumably no Samsung most probably has.
firmware support
Desire wise, I would go with the Sony Xperia Sola becuase of its looks. I snowing hate round mobiles but its 250 euro. 25 more for nothing but design compared to the Samsung.
I really dont know what to do.
I am so goddamned terrible at decision making.
Edit:
Edit 2.0
Turns out that the Cynus seems to be a copy of the MTK6577 which is most probably a copy of some samsung product. No offense to chinese innovators, they may be genuine.
I seem to have hit the China based products market. The prices seem to be extremely cheaper.
Yay, chinese online Samsungs copies for sale!

If you're shopping "China Phones" and you really just want a phone for use as a phone, can't go wrong with the W008 over at Chinabuye.
I'm sure the version of android on it might not run the best for anything "smart" considering it's less than 100$ US with free shipping, but look at the design:
It's clearly made to confuse/anger Apple fanboys.
Edit: It has dual Sim support surprisingly too

I heard Nokia Lumia phones are quite reliable and not as squishy as most smartphones.
The question would be, do you really need a smartphone with all those useless(in my opinion)apps from which you're gonna use 10 at best? Personally i use a Nokia C2. it comes with dual sim card support. Other than that it's nothing special.

Why do people care so much about their phones? As long as you can call and text people, why do the other things really matter? If I want a pentium dual core whatever, I can just get a laptop. I fail to see why so many people care about having all these top notch phones with all these cool features that you could get 10x better on a laptop or computer. Waste of money if you ask me.

I'm on the same page. Not to hijack the thread or anything, but I kinda miss when all you needed of a phone was the ability for it to telephone someone. Likewise with computers, where all you required was it could run the programs you needed.
Nowadays, I am afraid, many simply throw out things after maybe a year, no matter if it still lives up to the requirements it was bought for.

My friend replaced every 6-24 months between the new cell phone. He needs for the A-Class. As he is also a tester, said now is the best time of the Apple iPhone. But I have the same opinion with you.

@Williams
The real question is, why not?
Why not have a phone that has 34 apps, got access to the internet, MP3 player, camera etc.
The point is that older phones become increasingly expensive compared to newer phones.
Say, you got a Samsung vs lets say an old Nokia. The old nokia costs 50 euroe and the samsung 200 euro.
Considering the capabilities of the Samsung, of which I will only use half of them, the Nokia is too expensive because the Nokia only haas that call Function.
In essence, smartphones are not phones, they are multimedia devices with a phone inside.
Nokia released a phone, Nokia 808, with 40 megapixel camera. Its more of a camera with the ability to phone.
Edit:
I am putting the Samsung on ice as it will not receive Android 4.0 update. What a shame.

Older phones were 10x more durable than the newer phones. If I want internet, games and a camera then I could get a Laptop and a Camera, both of which are going to be better than they would be on the phone. It's just a total waste of money and most people have these items to show off and so on. What's the point? Like I said, I could get a laptop and I could have all those features you mentioned but it being just 10x better. lol

Besides of the showoff value you only have to carry one device with you.
I'd never take a phone, camera and a laptop along to most places.

Yeah but who would honestly take all three? If you know you're gonna need your camera, take that. If you think you may need your laptop, for example, going to a place with free wifi and drinking coffee or something, then take that. Who honestly would take all devices. lol

The uses I have for my smartphone:
- Google reviews of items while shopping
- GPS, so ****ing useful. Would get lost all the time without it.
- Android's got some pretty awesome games for entertainment.
- Camera with awesome sharing features (Facebook/Photobucket/etc, really fast and smooth to share stuff).
- Read the news in the morning.
- Read my email.
- Handle all my appointments with a smart calendar.
- Listen to music
- Phone people
- Message people
- Apps for pretty much anything you want.
The stuff I can think of at the moment.
I used to think like Will too but now... damn I can't be without this thing. So damn handy.

I got my first cellphone 8 years ago. I still use it to this day and it still does all the functions I bought it for.
I use my cellphone for:
Recieving text messages
Sometimes answering phone calls
Calender (I never know what week it is)
Extra wake up alarm
Small stuff to remember on the go
I haven't accessed it to the internet.
Regarding the amount you pay vs. the stuff you get.
I don't want anything more than what I have. For example, I often get unwanted, genuine, offers for all sorts of stuff. For some this is worth a lot, for me I'd even pay to get rid of it. So I don't see the value in extra functioning when I'm not interested in said functioning. It's like if you gave me a car I'd never use, but I'd pay taxes for it.
Of course, if you want all the fancy stuff, then go for it, it's your decision.

Smartphones are now so cheap that there's really no point in buying an 'old' phone unless you're someone who changes phones on a yearly basis.
I Have a Galaxy Gio (Ace's little brother with half the RAM), I bought it for ~200$, and it is perfect for everyday use. I use it for phoning/texting, listening to music and browsing only, but it has a decent camera as well.
I think most of these X megapixel cameras/oversized hard drives/dual or quadcore processors are just bling-bling and good for the showoff value.
I have several friends with high-end phones (iPhone4, Galaxy Note/S3 etc.) and I have never ever seen them doing something with it that a midrange priced phone cannot do.

200$ for a phone!?
That's approx. the amount I gave for this laptop, which have worked for all I needed it for, for the past 6 years.
