Pit Lords have the biggest potential damage, so they could do even more, especially on a lucky strike given the Demonic Luck bonus. Add on the fact that Inferno also have access to Inner Fire, and, well...
On that note, I've been having a hard time making use of Imperial Griffins - despite their good stats they seem to die way too quickly compared to Sun Crusaders, and Unlimited Retaliation doesn't sync well with Guardian Angel... even Putrid Lamasu have their uses as meatshields at least...
I wonder if Haven can do a similiar turtling strategy using Marksmen + Praetorians + Imperial Griffins, but Marksmen's low Magic Defense does hurt them...

THe imperial griffins are late game sweepers. When a lot of things are off the board they really shine as they are flying with a lot of damage and movement. However they are also really good at diving... obviously.
But they are NOT heavy assault units like they were in other heroes games. You shoudl not consider using them as a main attack force, but more as auxillary troops.

On the topic of potentially and realistically At least pitlords fall and there are more than a few ways to attack them without triggering retaliation.

I had a tears mage in the duel did definately not expect the kirins to do like that. I think that their massive passive mist is what makes them more powerful than fate weavers.
I read the discussion about the artifacts. This is what I think: Flamegold shield is a too specific counter and should be removed. Skull ring should be a major like bracers of the freemage. The elemental boost artifacts should stay, they are important when picking skills with magic hero. Pendant of mastery should be among minors or relics depending on whether it is over or below hero level 25 in the map. Shadow comb is ok, there are not very many spell power relics compared to the might boosts.

I also think I have changed my mind about decreasing army size. In my post on the top of p. 43 I was positive and I'm still not negative.
But I think it could be problematic that since direct damage spells will be more important, and three factions have good healing to recover from might heroes' attacks which will be weaker with smaller armies.
I have been winning too much with magic lately, if I had been loosing against might lately I would probably thought differently.

The thing is that unlike the Bracers and the Comb, Skull Ring just grants a one-time use of the spell and not any Magic Power bonuses. It's basically a spell scroll.
I'd either place it on the same level or one level below the Comb/Bracers or just treat it the same way as scrolls and remove it.

That's true, but there's also the set bonus which is small but not insignificant.

Speed bonus works, but the damage bonus definitely doesn't work on Furies, even though it works on Upg Angels... Haven't checked all fliers, I suppose it's decided on a case-by-case basis.

Indeed, heroic charge doesnt work with harpies. Never thought about that whole flying unit part though. It just might be the case.

In after thought, i guess it makes sense harpies cannot utilise heoric charge, they strike and return, so not really a charge, the more interesting question would be, what if you use there ability to stay after attack, no return would maybe mean heroic charge would activate?

The ability says base damage only, and they don't exactly move during the dive, so i'm going to say nothing.

i guess exactly the same equation as strike and return of harpies - so nothing should be right.
