My dream artifact is a ring or orb that lets you see inside of pandora's boxes by right-clicking without actually opening them. Kind of like the vision spell for boxes.
I'm working on a complete new set of erm scripts where many of these specialties depend on skill combinations. The idea of peeking into a pandoras box is interesting. Why not allow it if a hero has scouting, eagle eye and the visions spell?
Altering this and that during battle is another task. My latest addition is altering AT and DF depending on the remaining and used movement points. So the more you moved to battle, then higher will be the bonus for attack and the lower will be the bonus for defense, and vice versa. That modification depends on tactics, leadership and archery (AT bonus for shooters), offense (AT bonus for melee) and/or armorer (DF bonus). Except necromancers, who get a totally different set of special features (f.ex. cursing any opponent in battle).
Although most of these skill combination dependent modifications may be influenced by artifacts (thus giving a skill dependent additional function to artifacts) i do not want these specialties simply bound to artifacts. I prefere a more dynamic approach.
And yes, i agree that modifications to existing things are more interesting for now. But still new dragons are interesting, too.
Low level units with interesting abilities? What about this idea (new creature): A moskito swarm. Does 1 damage, has extreme high defense, extreme magic vulnerability and casts weakness or forgetfullness or something else irritating Alignment should be fortress.
