Anyone noticed?????
I was wondering if anyone noticed the similiarities between Might and Magic:Heroes VI and "A Song of Ice and Fire" by George R.R. Martin? Seems like the 5 heirs of the Griffin Empire in Heroes 6 are the equivalents of the 5 children of Eddard Stark(he has also Rickon, but he's too small to have a personality even in the books).
1-Sandor is the equivalent of Jon Snow. He is a snow, and has a close relationship with his warlike sister Irina, which is the equivalent of Arya Stark. Jon also had a close relationship with Arya, and was the only one to support her warlike temperament, just like Sandor and Irina. Also,Sandor leaves for the Orcs by his Master-at-Arms,also an orc, while Jon leaves for The Wall. In ASoIaF,there is a character called Sandor The Hound Clegane, bodyguard to King Joffrey.Sandor is an unique spelling of Sandro or Sander I first read on A Game of Thrones.
2-Irina bears resemblance to Arya Stark. Both have a warlike temperament, both were supposed to marry someone(Irina Duke Gerald and Arya that Frey Boy),both leave towards East and end up in a Water-Related place(Hashima Islands and Braavos) and both train in special styles of Swordfighting(Katana-style for Irina and Fencing Style for Arya).
3-Anton,whom is whispered in ears by traitor angels,is the equivalent of Robb Stark, who followed the councils of the traitors Roose Bolton and Walder Frey.
4-Anastasya is the equivalent of Sansa Stark. Both blame themselves for the murder of their father, and both live an empty, dead life.
5-Kiril is the equivalent of Bran Stark. He must accompany the Fallen Angel Sarah in Hell.Sarah is the equivalent of Meera Reed.Meera Reed accompanies Bran in the extreme north, where the ice demonic beings called The Others live. Here is the reverse.Kiril accompanies Sarah to Hell, where the Fire Demons live.

No, I didn't notice that. Why should I, if devs themselves said about that long ago:
Quote: Ubisoft representatives even went so far as to say that the game’s story would have more in common with something like the Song of Ice and Fire series of books.

Except HoMM 7 6 (how could I confuse?) plot is cheesy, predictable and childish, while a song of ice and fire is complex, sophisticated and feels authentic .
that's the one part where you can feel the ubisoft influence on the story. Every plot they touch too often become watered down, less mature (mature = advanced, realist) and almost ''pop culturally'' correct. Granted ubisoft is not the only one, they are legions to do that.
If only...

Are we predicting the future now?
But yeah, from what I can tell from the tv-series. I can see it, but as the above poster pointed out, it more of a reference.

The TV series are a censored and watered down version of the books.
As for the topic - I can't see much similarities. Comparing the story-telling styles is out of the question as Heroes VI is - generously said - mediocre at best even by teenage standards and the Song is just in another dimension but other than that they have few things in common.

Some author I forgot the name tried to sue Ubisoft for the similarities between the assassin's creed plotline and his book, but failed. Then Ubisoft tried to make it so he would never be able to sue them ever again and the author claims it is a hint of their guilt.

@ zeno..
There are some general styles and motives (Like those that Lord_Immortal pointed out) that, from a short summary or characteristic, do strongly resemble George R.R. Martin's books. I personaly noticed them from the time the main characters were introduced.
That said it is for me impossible to compare a less than average PC game story to a written saga that is destined to became one of the masterpieces of its genre. Heroes VI can in no way match, either in complexity or style, to George R.R. Martin's books.
But now I will repeat myself from several times in the past. The hidden story of Heroes VI (that of abused royal families and the hidden war between the angels and the facesless) could create a rather very nice story if focused on anything else than those 5 chosen characters and put into the hands of a skilled writer (nothing personal against Ubies writers)
Also, a reason I would like to "not compare" the George R.R. Martin's books and Heroes VI is the setting.
Heroes VI's setting is very "magic", much like D&D worlds or WH worlds. Martin's world is more "Dark age" closer to the works of A. Sapkowski.

What exactly is wrong with the story? (I haven't played the game, just curious) Just looking at the premise, this looks to be quite a good storyline; does the plot become stupid, or are the characters not interesting, or what?

That's my point.

Of course not,I never said nor meant that.

Never played Heroes 6,and I speak with the general introduction of the characters,so,I don't know the story's full potential.

How much detailed analysis of the flaws of Heroes Vi storyline would you like?

Well, most game storylines are snowty. Or perhaps I played too many Capcom games.
Bethesda software and Bioware impresses me in that regard however.

Still (much??) better than the Heroes V story line/(misre)presentation.

Heroes V reminds me somehow of Charmed TV Series,Season 3 mostly, but also Seasons 4 and 5 a little. Only that Charmed was way better.
