Yes of course.
That's not really a wolf per-se then (even the biggest dog-breeds top out and 110-120 kg), more like a hyaenodon or Andrewsarchus. A different name will avoid confusion.

Have you thought about Gargoyles (like Obsidian ones from "Heroes III") being a part of the Inferno line-up?
Not really good ideas IMO. Gargoyles, whatever their appearance, are basically golems, and thus fit best with a group playing about with animating stone.

I also think gargoyles would fit into dungeon as well,seeing as how they are sometimes depicted as rather sinister creatures,who can't stand the light,fitting the darkness theme of the dungeon faction(at least the ashan one)

Still, I'd rather have a wolf rider than a boar rider.

Anyways, I've placed gargoyles in Necropolis and you can find some Stronghold artwork (... that best suited my vision).

Well I've decided to add a war machine to Haven (yet to think of names), but also as an upgrade of the roc - sorry I like "garuda" better.

And I'll think about the second one. BTW Academy (I decided to go for a desert-themed one, cuz I'm saving snow for another faction) and Fortress are up.

Finally I'm finding time (and internet-connection) to comment on this again.

Academy

What exactly is the essence? A Spirit? A summoned "pile" (or ball) of energy? Something else?
I personally think Mummys in Academy interesting and possible, but now some people are going "undead are for necropolis" or at leadst IÄ've experienced this in the past.
2 cores still missing...What about:
...a magical (flying) weapon.
...a restricted mage of non-human race (f.e. a gnomen illusionist or a beastmen battle-mage)
...a desert warrior (maybe female, maybe magical blades) or simply  a nomad
...a desert beast (snake, spider, I'd say scorpion, but you made that a paragon...mabye scorpion here and chariot or Elephant higher?)
Only suggestions of course!
Except these, all are fine - well of course I still DO not like the Rakshasa, but I won't waste more time arguing on this topic

Overall, I think this combination fine so far!

Fortress

First, to the creatures you give.  Fien so far, except the cran efeels more core than elite and I want to knwo which race does the swamp elder have? Also, Basilisk is a real strong creature to my feeling (but I am a bit strongly potter influenced there ) Maybe you can make Basilisk upgrade of a snake or lizard creature? (thus also avoiding which upgrades can be made of basilisk)
For Serpent Fly second upgrade - how abotu Fire Fly?
Now, for suggestions for more creatures:
...Elf Fire/Fen Fire/Wisp/Wil'o'Wisp/etc. When having so many creautres per faction this one is almost a must-have in a swampy fortress for me!
...Voodo Priest with cursing and/or mind-control and/or Reanimation. Yet that's most a paragon creature, possibly - maybe takle bog giant out or make it Champion?
...Some Crocodilic Creature could be in, either just "Alligator" or a croco-version of lizardmen.
...Also, Amphibic Creatures fit wonderfully into swamps! Toads, Frogs, Salamanders - maybe a frog rider or a humanoid-amphibic race (frogmen )?
...Plant-creatures are possible here as well!!!

For Fortress, in addition to Jiriki's suggestions you could add Kelpies, as well as some turtle/tortoise like unit. Then, for Academy, perhaps a Camel Rider, or some sort of serpent.

Possibly Fortress unit?

Going on from Jiriki's idea of having a voodoo priest unit, what about a Cheval? someone who channels and embodies Voodoo Loa, allowing them to take on different attributes depending on their needs. Need an agressive unit? have the Cheval channel the god of fire and war. Need a healer? Channel the snake at the base of creation? Need someone to ressurect allies? have the sweary, partying lord of the dead be channeled through the cheval.

It's an idea, at any rate

Yes the magical essence is a spirit.

About mummies - since this is a desert-themed one I think they belong here (There are already too many humanoids in Necropolis).

Cores: I love gnome and nomad.

Elephant rider and chariot - nah, giant scorpion rider is cooler and with more possibilities.

Well I like the rakshasa better cause nagas are more aqueous creatures.

Hmmm... Okay, I'll put crane in core.

Well my vision for the basilisk pretty much like the HoMM3 one. A lizard-like instead of a snake-like one. And also I think that it should stay in elite.

Fire Fly? Hmmm... I'll add it as a suggestion.

Elf Fire/Fen Fire/Wisp/Wil'o'Wisp/etc. - There will be a wisp in the Sylvan faction.

Voodoo priest? Sounds great.

Some Crocodilic Creature? Hmm, well the basilisk will be crocodile-like bodied creature so...

Out of all those I like salamanders. But I'll think about it.

Plant-creatures - Hmm swamp elder is plant like and also the bog giant kinda. And I'm saving others for sylvan.

Well kelpies would be the mounts for the Fortress heroes. And good point I should find some turtle-like unit.

Nice idea, I like the channeling but I prefer mind control and curses. Although, it could channel first before taking control of some creature.

About Vamps (and Lamasu), not having an alternative upgrade.
Are they supposed to NOT have one or you didn't just figure out the names?

If so, then alternative upgrade for Vampire Lords could be Alps.

That's still a (somewhat) canon name, since in original Polish localization of HoMM3, that was the name of Vampire Lords. Dunno when it got changed - AB or SoD, or maybe Complete - but I remember that well.
Wampiry (Vampires) -> Alpy (Alps)

Ironically, Alpy is a Polish name for Alpines, but that's unrelated.

Moar about Alps.
