Leave it to a woman to feel the need to post long-winded explanations for every response. Notice how all the men gave short and concise answers, Meroe. That's because we are ironclad creatures of efficiency and industrious might.
I'll hand it to you though, it was cute to read. I might have to swap you out from "Person I wouldn't want to meet in battle" to "most adorable poster". There can be a surprisingly fine line between the two, it would seem.

Newbie means new, but 'new' does not link to any absolute time, such as the arbitrarily chosen year. It's subjective, so nor join date for that matter. It's more of a question of actual activity and renewal of members. To me, Gnomes is still part of the new generation who've "just" joined, and in my opinion, within the best part.

It would be cool if we counted the votes from every category and proclaimed the winner, but I don't know if other member would agree on that.
EDIT: I think that we should have a thread in the VW where we would comment on the given answers. Something like this:
