User Interface resources
Hello people,
I am looking for the original user interface resources (images, etc), I've been able to find some hd-mods for heroes 3 but those are all packed into resource files (which I don't know how extract).
If someone can provide me with these original files I would be very grateful! (Or a way to do it myself is appreciated too).
Regards,
Xorinzor

Download a tool called MMArchive here.
With it, you can open the .lod, .snd & .vid files inside your Heroes 3/Data folder. All the bitmaps for the GUI are located in h3bitmap.lod. Extract the ones you wish to edit to some temporary folder with the MMArchive, and edit them. The images must be 8 bit (256 colours). Once done, import them back to the .lod, with MMArchive, in .bmp format. Or you could save them in 8 bit .pcx files, and place them directly in the /Data folder. Both ways work.
I hope this helps, and in case you got anything else to ask, just do it. This is a nice community

Thanks! I'll let you know if it worked for me
Also, I'm not trying to build a mod for Heroes 3, in fact, I thought it would be a fun project (as though I'm not sure I'll ever finish it) to rebuild Heroes 3 in the web browser

It'll work, if you do it correctly
It's a huge project you're about to start, wish you the best of luck with that.

Indeed it did work, thanks! got around 7000 bitmap files now xD
The character sprites seem to have been stored in .def files however, is there a simple way to convert these to bmp (or such) files?

Yes, you can use the Def Preview tool to extract bitmaps from .def files
I take it you're not really familiar of all the possibilities you can do with this game . There are a load of programs made for the game. The WoG Archive is one of the better sites dedicated for this sorta stuff.

I'm not going to deny that I'm glad you're helping me though!
That website you provided seems very useful, I'm sure it will help me with most of my questions I might have, thanks!
