Enlarge existing map? + Why can't I save edited map? + 9 Players?
Hi everyone, noob here again with some questions.
I just bought the complete edition of H3, whilst waiting for the complet version I had a great idea.
I wanted to modify my Real Of Chaos (Allies)-map so I could enjoy the game even more.
I wanted to make the existing map bigger so I could make a whole new area for Conflux town...
But now I just read you can't copy paste in this editor, nor can I make the existing map bigger of size. My alternative was mass copy paste the map into a bigger (new) map but that's not possible?
And then my other question...
Every time I adapt a map and try to save it, it says acces is denied... Never had that before on my incomplete heroes map editor.
And is it possible playing with 9 players as a max?
Any help?
Thanks!

Did You check if the editor has permission to write in the folder You want to save the map in? Windows Vista and 7 make a fuss about permissions, try running the editor with Admin rights.
No, vanilla Complete has a hardcoded limit of 8 players/map. VCMI overcame much of the original limitations, if ever someone finds a way to enlarge that, it'll be them. Here is their official thread in any case.

If you want to copy and paste you'll have to get the new WoG editor. You can get it here:
http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=37208
It looks the same as the vanilla editor but it has lots of extra functions, one of them is copy and paste. In WoG editor click on "obstacle tool" and look to the right of the mini map. You'll see a new button, click it and follow the instructions. Then copy and paste your entire map in a new empty map. When you save your map be sure to save as SoD map file otherwise the map won't work in vanilla H3.
You can use both the vanilla editor and the WoG editor if you have WoG installed so if you want you can continue working in vanilla editor after copying and pasting your map.

So using this other map editor and saving as SoD map file makes it work in the game? Oké, thanks!
Btw: is it possible anywhere playing as a 9th player?
Too bad you can't have 9 different players of 9 different tonws... :/

Yeah, there are two map file types: WoG and SoD. Save it as SoD.
I don't think there are any mods yet that allow more than eight players. But it's a good idea. I did see that someone is working on a mod that makes the battlefield a lot bigger. And there's a mod that allows creating XXL maps. So it's not a bad idea to allow 12 or even more players.
And who knows maybe someone can make a mod so up to four different armies can join in the same battle on a larger battlefield? I'd definitely want to try that. Too bad I suck at coding.

Do I have to downnload the whole of that game or can I download the editor on it's own?

There are several versions of WoG. I'd advise you to get the Era version. It's the most updated and takes less than 100 MB.
