Will these replace things/each other or will they all be available at once with the other graphic sets?
The gold terrain is indeed awesome and would be perfect for treasure zones.

keep up the good work!
the flying castle isn't mine, it was made by somebody else. it had an unanimated dragon on it, and the original graphics didn't blend well with the game; so i removed the dragon, fixed the castle, and remade the island it sat on.
@ sal: lol, no. i survive on my winning personality and keen wit.
@ artu: any substandard graphic in my old patch is getting replaced with either improved versions, or replaced completely. the things i will be replacing completely, i wholly believe no one would have used thus far anyway.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but are those objects really in the air? How did u manage to do that?
I ask this cause in Heroes V you could create places only achivable with fly... It could be very interesting: imagine a well defended town floating in the air, for you to finnish the scenario you had to learn the spell Fly and that spell would only be available from a large and hard quest (like TP in TDS). Of course, if this becames "part of the most used template" can be borring and if not is a lot of work for very little gain, but it would be fun.
I really like this new version. Thanks for your effort.

of course they don't fly, its just a perspective effect. But if he gives them a slow up/down movement, they will look like floating.

So, there is no easy trick with passability to make a town or mine reachable only by fly. It's a petty.

I dont think he's talking about making a town or mine reachable with Fly only by putting obstacles on the way. He's talking about a "sky zone" like the underground zone.
No. That would mean to build another game from scarcth. Since it wont be switching the 2D map like the way underground zone works, you are, in practicality, talking about turning Heroes 3 into a 3D game. That is beyond the modding capabilities of anyone.

You know what I mean Sal, there is no height in the Adventure map, that's just an illusion, you like Escher?

Yeah! Basicly. You don't need to know how it is made you just know you can't reach him without flying there.
It could be a spot of water betwen pinetrees covered with some other type of terrain, where you need to summon boat to pass. Only citys in the sky would be more interesting, specially if someone can draw a storyline.
When I tought that was the way Fred was going on I was amazed. You would need to draw a circle of impassability all arroud the town or mine or other object, only leaving the entrance inside the object and impassable outside.
Of course, if Fred does it and everybody starts adding it to their own scenarios it can become a trope so it is "a lot of work for few gain". It's already common place custom maps having something of the kind.

the sky islands are easily set to "fly" by passability alone(and dimension doors). they're in my current object patch release(just not with the updated graphics yet). as i've said before, you can't have the sky islands move, since a hero will stand on it, and ruin the illusion of it floating.
as for actually floating, you don't need anything to. you can do just about anything with illusion alone(case in point, the dock town in the screens i posted is actually on top of land; no scripting needed. by using a patch of cycling water underneath the docks themselves, you effectively cover up the land. i have gotten around scripting in various other ways, as well). as long as the player is satisfied in the suspension of disbelief, that's all that matters. the graphic only has to look right, and the placement of it(and arrangement of the surrounding visuals) is the other half of the illusion.

still updating the patch. i've been through it twice now, and replaced about half of it with the new graphics. i replaced some sporadic graphics entirely that don't mesh well with HoMM3(with the new WoG mountains), and will be replacing more. i have the burnt terrain stuff to do yet; as well as the spider terrain objects. these two groups will be pretty intensive(the spider terrain stuff particularly, because i'll be working with patterns), as they are larger in bulk than the rest. i made new Forge terrain patches(all sets), and will probably be looking to replace some of the Forge buildings(the ones I made, anyway; not the actual Forge team(s) stuff). which reminds me: i have to smooth out the toxic waste in the toxic waste pools. i already did a good job on the pig's mud(made the graphic myself).
the sky islands have all been fixed. i replaced the iceberg as well, and now realize i can make my own from near scratch, using the experience i gained with gem and crystal work(i replaced all of the resource/mine graphics, and added a ton more).

Silver looks like gold in monochrome. Maybe it should shine more, mithril from Wog looks more silvery somehow.
Jungle and Swap are broken links here.

the silver stuff is the gold stuff rehued/resaturated, yes. but i think it looks like silver, so nyeah. edit: (i know it looks a bit dull, but raising the brightness/contrast will only make it hard on the eyes)
as for broken links, postimage is having problems with larger pics. i don't know why. every time i try to upload a larger pic, i have to go through a different process to get the link to post here. but that's not the problem, as you can see the other larger frames that i used the same process on. so i don't know what to tell you. maybe refreshing?
refreshing worked for me when i logged on.

I really like the dragon eggs, great idea. Maybe someone can make a Eragon map out of it...
I'm still dreaming that the Ubi HD mod will at least call the attention of some gifted designers since nowadays ERM modders are more proficuous then story tellers
