Woah...
Although AOE3 and AOM were better in my eyes, I'll still probably get this simply because it's Age of Empires and if it sells well enough they might actually make a new one...

Nice!
AoE is one of the best RTS games ever, and this just makes it more awesome. Probably gonna download this for more epic.

Same here. The AoE2 theme and intro gives me a nostalgia boner.
Noticed this a few days ago on Steam but I did not see a trailer until now.
AoE2 and H3 are the main games of my childhood. I owe a lot of my love for history to AoE2. AoE3 is also a great game and probably the one I got the most total time on and a few years ago I played a lot of MP with my brother. AoEO is also amazing but not having somebody to play with gets boring as the game is practically made for Co-op. AoE1 sux though in my opinion and I did not enjoy it the few times I tried it. I was too young to play it when it came out (if I was even alive) but I can imagine that it was great for its time and others loved it like I loved AoE2.
But I still got the game installed on this computer and it probably works so the only reason to buy this HD edition would be for the Steam support and multiplayer. The HD graphics do not impress me and I would rather they made a new modern AoE game based on the middle ages. AoE/Antiquity already got modernized through AoEO and AoE3 could still be considered to new to make a new game based on the renaissance so a medieval game is the obvious answer wether it be like AoEO or take a more traditional route.

Here is a strategy thread btw.

I have been interested in AoE1 for quite a while. I have never played it but remember a friend playing it 15 years ago. Then I was very impressed and the ancient world is fascinating. Now I checked some youtube-videos and it looks a bit old and limited. AoE2 has much better landscape besides more detailed and well made civilizations. Maybe I'll get it if I find it cheap somewhere.
I didn't know about AoEO online, but wow, this may be something for me. Perhaps AoE1 became superfluous with this game. A bit weird that there are vikings but no romans.

For me too, together with Svea Rike (simple but still good) and C&C games (other nostalgia soundtracks). Later Europa Universalis 1&2 and Total War Rome became huge favourites. Both these games have many elements from the other four games. I wished I would have played EU3 but serious studies and H5 came in the way.
And AoE2 gets loads of +points from me for the encyclopedia included in the game.

I think its kind of overpriced.
I have the game and play it when I have time with the mod AOFE(Forgotten empires)
That adds Slavs, Magyars(Hugarians), Indians and so an as new civilizations. It also makes the game playable in Windows 7 and has full resolution support.
If anyone wants to give the mod a try, google it. Its awesome.
As fo the HD steam thing. As I said, there are modders who did a better job already. However, because its steam and matches are easier, this would be defenitely a good thing.
As for you others saying AOE3 was better...Not really. It was too dumbed down to my likings.
I also would pwn you noobs here if it came to a match as I play this game even to this day..... Sadly, no online because the a router somewhere from my provider is blocking all connections from Game Ranger?, not sure about the client's name.
Goth infantry spam...
Or the chinese are pretty awesome.

I had started the series with AOE3 (was my first video game alone with HOMM5) and so my nostalgia is directed toward that as opposed to AOE2 and I just find its predecessor outdated.

AoE3 was awesome and a worthy sequel but AoE2 will forever be the classic that was the best of its age. AoE2 has the same status in the AoE series as H3 has in the HoMM series.
AoE3 however, has a serious lack of Swedish Empire and I wish it had a Europe expansion and not just Native American and Asian.
