Hi,
I am revisiting this issue that I originally posted in April. I attempted to create a new topic but my forum access is too restricted apparently:
Question from before:
>>>
Multiplayer after about 3 days in-game while the host is "receiving data" the game will crash, no errors, just exit back to desktop.
On the non-era Heroes III, we can play multiplayer full game, no crashes.
Is this a known issue?
<<<
I am traveling to a friends house this weekend and we like playing HOMM3/WOG and would love to play multiplayer. Has this been fixed since 2.43?
If not, is there a work-around that does NOT involve reloading a saved game every 2 to 3 turns?
Thank you!
Hello!
Me and my friend having the same issues.
We have Complete + HD (with the patch installed) + Era2 + revised on + quicksave off. We play both from win7 64bit, made every firewall opened, virtual LAN trough Hamachi, TCP/IP in multiplayer menu, using the Hamachi IP.
So we are basically able to play the game, every function works, we can have battles, all kind of interaction, special scripted stuff too without error.
All of a sudden on random Receiving / Sending occasions (when one player clicks on the turn button/ hour glass) one of us crashes to desktop with an error msg of: H3 HD CRITICAL ERROR, a crashlog was created: HD_CRASH_LOG.txt, while the other player just basicaly stays in the game.
So for me it seems like some kind of synchronization problem or whatewer eventhough on few occasions it happend not at turn loading, but in a big fight.

Our WOG settings

Also i found like several more xxxLOG.txt files in the same place with same date, i upload them as an archived folder too.

I would highly appreciate any kind of help as i couldnt really find any related fix or know how so far.

You may try to turn off the following HD options:
<TournamentExtensions> = 0
<AutofixMap> = 0

Ok, we were testing in the last 2 days intensively.
Things slightly changed by the settings Bersy recomended:
"You may try to turn off the following HD options:
<TournamentExtensions> = 0
<AutofixMap> = 0"
The game is still chrashing on random sending/receiving (turn skip) ocassions and sometimes, rarely in big battles. The difference is that, i dont get the H3HD_CRASH_LOG.TXT was created error, but i see the old error what i used to see many years ago whenewer i played older WOGs. These basic ingame windows, with kind of syntax or script error msgs, but i cannot read it as it instantly crashes to desktop too. BTW it still generates all kinds of chrash log txts.
I dont wanna bother u guys with this nonsense, im just courios if anyone still plays this game other than singleplayer, or is it totally hopeless for me to seek some close to acceptable level of playability, i mean reliability.
If there is anyone who faced similar problems with TCP/IP games.
Im still trying to experiment with the wog settings too, to make it to the minimum, to use the least scripts.
So forexample if there is any certain script what might cause out of sync, multiplayer problems, it would be really nice to let me know of them.

Upload you settings.dat, I will look into options.
Btw, you can set SavedGameExtraBlockSize=8000000 in heroes3.ini. There is a miserable chance that it can influent on the crashes.

Thanks Bersy, You are extremly helpfull, im gonna send the logs, as i get home.
I tried to change the extra block size as i saw in the past some error also mentioning that ( so might be a good sign), but we changed it to 40.000.000(we thought +0 should be enough, but) instead of 8.000.000, so i will also try that. Thank You so much.

I'm planning to fix 2 MP problems in June/July. Probably it would be nice if you send me your email, so I could contact you when it's ready.
Btw, I need settings.dat or any other file where you save your WoG Options.

Enhanced War Machines 2 is not for multiplayer.
Luck (option 206, script48) is buggy. It's ok if you don't have crashes in battles.
Other options seem to be ok. Probably scripts are not a reason at all.
