Yup, dark is the only reason for me not using high cost creatures...just seems a waste when you drop a 7/8 resource and opponent drops 3 deathseal or 4 soulreav on ya ass.
I hope they introduce some remedy to this to entice using high cost creatures...

Why do card games hate creatures so much.
There's always a million ways to remove even high-level ones instantly with some cheap spells.
- AHAAAA I SUMMON DEATH OVERLORD OF THE LIMBFILLED OCEAN, WHAT DO YOU SAY NOW MORTAL?!
- Deathseal.
- DEATH OVERLORD DOES NOT CARE-WAIT WHAT?
Here's what I'd do.
All creatures have a magic resistance level, a high level creature can have low magic resistance or high, depends on the creature. A creature is only affected by spells that exceed its magic resistance.
Then you can have creatures and spells and ****whatnot that increase and decrease magic resistance too and you have a whole other layer of tactics.
No more dropping a mothateffing behemoth of might on the battlefield and having it get its ass handed to it by a bony cripple supported by a Deathseal spell.
Then the enemy needs to combo properly to take it down instead, place some kinda magic resistance curse on it and then take it down.
There ya go Ubi.
EDIT:
I'd also make magic resistance react differently to damage spells and effect spells.
Example, my DEATH OVERLORD OF THE LIMBFILLED OCEAN has 4 magic resistance, enemy drops a 6 damage spell, damage is reduced by 4, damaging DEATH OVERLORD OF THE LIMBFILLED OCEAN by 2.
Effect spells are either hit or miss instead, either they work or they don't.

Hello Adrius, long time no see.
To be honest I agree with you that spells are the problem, but to be honest, I think that AoE spells are much more problematic then the single target ones. Introducing the Day of Sanctuary and Path of the Ancestors helped a lot to lower the count of single target spells and their effect.
But still, when you are putting on the field a lot of creatures, no matter what level they are, and opponent is blocking you with low level creatures like Hangman Tree or Hellfire Bloaters and then Wipe whole Battlefield with 2 Insect Swarms/Forbidden Flame, it really is a problem because you can't really prevent that. Mana Storm is ok, but it isn't enough.
The devs generally agreed that AoE spells are too powerful, I am looking forward to see what they are planning to do with them.

AoE and other damaging spells are okay, it's only really armageddon and forbidden flame that can take off high health creatures.
It's dark dark dark with death seal and soulreaver at such low resource cost that's the problem and the reason why players don't use high cost creatures most of the time...

There are so many problems with this game I don't know how people keep playing it.
1) Mass removals - The Forbidden Flame, Insect Swarm, Earthquake, Armageddon, you name it.
2) Dark spells - Soulreaver, Deathseal, Phantom Image, Puppet Master.
3) Necropolis balance is NON-EXISTENT! Hangman trees, Poison Spitters, Atropos and Banshees are bad enough by themselves but combined with Dark spells, it's just too much. (Make Hangman trees have Anchored, 1 poison counter for the Spitters, 1 creature for Atropos, is it so hard? And FFS make Acamas and Blood Caller playable!)
4) Too much room for cheese decks. I know it's part of the game, but there are certain thing you just can allow - like the Sanctuary Stun lock - Throne of renewal, Inheritance, Avalanche = FU.
And many more.

Still a great strategic game though...I sometimes use a low level garant (3/3/2) for quick games to avoid those mass removals as much as possible...

IMHO...
Yes there are some balancing issues, however this forces u to create counter decks which also become pretty potent. An example would be slowpoke or arbiter
Lock, against my current deck, even with area spells and lock I manage to defeat 9 out of 10 times. Not because ive changed my deck but rather because I've adapted my game play. Same with Adar, same deck different game play. Sanc did pose a problem but once again jut by changing game play I change the dynamic of your deck.
Other way I think when academy gets released we are all in for one hell of a ride
