Kingdoms and other f2p browser games

Hi guys, just looking for some thoughts or opinions on Kingdoms if anyone has played it? Does it have an active community?

I am looking for a decent strat browser game and since HoMM is one of my all time favourite game series was thinking of trying Kingdoms. Also curious on any thoughts or recommendations that anyone has to share about any other F2P browser games that a worth a look.

Just a sidenote - every time I see the word kingdoms associated with a PC game my mind immediately thinks back to TA:Kingdoms, one of the biggest disappointments I have ever had in my gaming 'career' (right up there with Peter Molyneux and 'Gene Wars', anyone remember that?) ...  poor cavedog that game buried them without a bone to chew on.

Cheers all

Maybe You should check Duel of Champions out, we even have a topic dedicated to it.

Thanks. Just reading through the thread now ... is it F2P?

I have never played a card based game before ... is it easy to get into?

Probably the nearest I've gotten to the DnD system in a PC game would have to be Baldurs Gate from memory...

Cheers

It is, though be prepared for a fair bit of grinding. It's relatively easy to pick up, just make sure You play the Tutorial and the campaigns first. That should be over quickly, and You'll have enough in-game currency to boost your starting deck nicely, or even ditch it, and go for Sanctuary (that's what I did, haven't regretted it once)
It's not really DnD-ish, just a pretty straightforward time waster with a bit of strategy and luck involved.

Also, You should read this guide and this one as well.

Have fun!
