Few questions from a new member.
Hello everyone i recently found this community after playing heroes for over 10 years and im so greatful for all the work people have done.
As the topic goes i have a few noob questions if anyone have the time to answer.
1. Is there any other site thread were you can find more mods other then http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=37495.
2. Are people still active in the community making new content etc?
3. All the threads are rather old i've been looking through some of it but is there any specific mods/program you would recommend?
Thanks in beforehand

1. The newest for Heroes 3 WoG is HERE, more than 65 playable mods.
2. For Heroes 3 there is still some work ongoing, but it fades slowly with so many new games out.
3. You have material from 1, test it.

That's a great list, but most of them seem to be ways to change the game based on taste. When I think of essential mods, I think of things like:
1) HD mod. Not only allows widescreen play and the ability to see all 8 hero portraits at once, but offers features such as auto-split, manual split options, transfer creatures, backpacks, the ability to start commanding during intro music, and much much more.
2) cranim.txt. Speed up combat animations to save time each combat.
3) ARRAYTXT.TXT. Numerically quantify lots, few, throng, etc to avoid the need to memorize and/or constantly look up what each bracket means.
I too have been wondering if there's a list of "essential mods" such as these. Ones that don't fundamentally change the game, but offer pronounced quality of life upgrades.

You could add:
-The 'tower bug fix' (hexing or GoG)
-Using WoG (ERM) as a map preprocessor.
-Using the Map Editor as a map preprocessor. (without actually looking at the map)
-Importing WoG or HotA resources into SoD.
-All the other tweakable txt files, of course.

actually i try to find reasons FOR the towerbug
you could argue, that if u carry a heavy(in terms of weight) armor, and get hit by missiles, the armor itselfs deals some damage to your body, by just being heavy
is there a official statement from 3do , that this is a bug?

Well, you only mentioned 'cranim.txt' and ARRAYTXT.TXT.
I'll mention a few more, but there's quite a few of them:
artraits.txt
Arti slots, arti price and class.
movement.txt
Arti movement bonus values, speed bonus values (land and sea)
SPTRAITS.txt
Many spell related stats/values
Objects.txt
Remove/replace objects within certain limits (random map generator)
HCTRAITS.TXT
Hero class secondary abilities (possibility of getting at level up)
CRTRAITS.TXT
Creature stats/values (price, attack, defence, growth, etc.)
And more... Take a look at 'H3bitmap.lod'. They're all in there.

Does it really matter? It seems to me that you have a choice.

Are there any tweaks that prevent (or at least reduce) the chance of certain skills being offered during level up?
Basic estates and basic luck are two, um, "skills" that I will never need, thank you very much.

i think its in a txt, but some skills are hardcoded, like wisdom or random magic school on certain lvl
also you could just disable the skills on the maps you play, i believe in newer templates these bummer skills are disabled too

Templates cannot disable skills. The Map Editor can indeed remove specific skills completely for a specific map. Even with just a single click; no need to manually go through for every Witch Hunt or the like. You sure about Wisdom? It is included in the list, at least. You can indeed also alter the probability of getting a certain skill as a certain class of hero via 'HCTRAITS.TXT'.
So, zombiewhacker, 'yes' is the answer.

different question
Hi. I'm playing HOMM2 again after about 12 years, showing my son the game. We were playing the map Ghost Planet and I can't remember where the ghost barrow(s) are to recruit ghosts. Can anyone help? Thanks!
