Gentlemen rules (Share your own)
About gentlemens rules. A gentlemens rule is a rule that the game cannot enforce by itself, but it is a rule that is nevertheless still applied to the game by honesty and fair play. It is a power tool to shape the game with.
So what kind of gentlemen rules do you and your trusted friends play with?
I'll start by mentioning a few:
1. Town portal can only be used once a day, and you cannot leave the town teleported to until the next turn.
Alternately, then it is only allowed on the first day of the week, but as many times as you have the time to. You still mustn't leave the town until the next day.
2. You must not use boats/dimension door to steal artefacts without attacking the guards; same with misplaced borderguards.
3. Dimension door, if on, is a once per day spell.
4. You may use tactical battle once a week, otherwise quick combat (we play with 1 min turns).
5. Monsters spawned by 'double populations' mustn't be upgraded or combined with creature growth from towns. (we play mostly without diplomacy, so these monster are the only joinable ones with a 3/10 join chance)
I can provide our reasons for these rules if anyone is interested.
What're you guys/girls gentlemen rules?

6th : u mustnt use comboartefacts
7th : u shall not use the tomes of [...]magic
8th : only one alignment per hero, 2 alignments if you have leadership OR the amulet with +3 morale/luck, 4 alignments if you have both
(neutrals, Angels and Wiverns dont count)
9th : no grailbuilding?
also i have a question: what is "townsitting"?

'Townsitting'? I don't know. What're you referring to?
Your '8th' rule sounds interesting to me. I have to think about that one.

I'm pretty sure 'townsitting' is another word for turtling; sitting around your town days and days on end collecting troops and not fighting.
Though this simply seems to disadvantage the player; not capturing mines, towns or leveling up.
anyways, I'll add my own:
;
10th: No armageddon
11th: No Backdoor town stealing

That's was not very understandable, indeed. I'll elaborate. Tactical combat is allowed once a week of your choosing; otherwise quick combat has to be used.
It obviously speeds up the game, but it also adds some cool dynamics to the game. You have to use your 'once-a-week-card' wisely. The battle AI is rather bad, of course, but some creature compositions does a lot better in quick combat. However, it doesn't really matter if the battle AI is worse because this rule is equally applied to all the players. Besides, the results with quick combat is consistent, not much randomness. You can predict it consistently.
