The problem with H4 as of now is the sloopy programming. H4 is really not a game that would necessitate high requirements compared to other recent games outthere.
I have a great OS with a good machine and H4 is the only programm (and I use a bundle) that causes troubles.
I`ve been told by many that 3DO`s patch addresses that ram leaking problem.

I had been overreacting, the soft city in leuven has imported the game from england, meaning I have a yellow box... The game works perfectly here (yes even the no sound issue and the white square over the cursor have been fixed)

If you have enuff make a copy of both CD virtual and then install from there.On cd there is a directory called patch or crack overwrite that file over heroes4.exe and enjoy.

P4 2.2 GHz, 1 GB PC 800 Rambus, Radion 8500 w/128 MB AGP, Win XP/Home.... No problems here! Runs like an antelope!!

The solution for sloppy and crappy programming is NOT buying a new computer for fuk's sake!
The game runs far too slow on older computers. You can make the game run significantly faster by disabling the music and map animations and also running in 800x600. You can keep the sound effects, they don't influence the game speed too much. I guess the music is in MP3 or other compressed format that just takes too much processing power.
I'm waiting for a decent patch (possibly with multiplayer, but at least with the bugs FIXED) before deciding to upgrade the computer. Waiting for the heroes to move on the map is so damn anoying!
