Mana cyclone = amazing.
Nozari = Did not know it was a she. Did not know she was in the lore. Having healaldin with Thekal and such, I do not think this will change that the deck is not strong enough.
Unseen Saboteur = Combo breaker?
Shadowy figure = Faceless manipulators little brother. That's pretty good in priest
Duel = Why? Another combobreaker?
Marked shot = Great, but it doesn't really work with Vereesa legendary..
Catrina Muerte = A nod to The Grand Tournament. Annoying text to be honest. Is she a suitable card for ress-priest? I never played that deck

I got my hands on the Art of Hearthstone artbook, and I'm pretty impressed with it's quality. Seeing some of the art in bigger scale reveals many interesting details.

It certainly could've used some more text/trivia, but what we got sheds some light on how the small indie company created this game. There are no card decriptions, but I guess it's understandable seeing that many cards got their artworks straight from the TCG. The "making of" section shows a lot of scrapped ideas which imo could potentially still make it to the game. I especially liked the idea of board sides changing depending on which class/hero you play or board hazards (like cannons or volcanos) that affect the board. Maybe in the future? You can certainly see some of the ideas making their way to the final game or its xpacs one way or another. I wonder why Blizzard allowed this stuff to surface in the first place, this could give fans some ideas Well, the potential is there...

Regarding the recent reveals I'm still convinced Shadows is the biggest rehash of previous content yet. I mean for instance Priest so far got the exact same mechanics we've already seen: resurrection or copying minions. Are they really running out of ideas of want to fill the gaps left after rotation?

I do believe they are filling in the gaps from the rotation. It makes great sense to reprint some of the old mechanics and cards, so we can still keep some decks or archetypes. I have seen a lot of discussion on this topic; MtG does it a lot etc.

Maybe we expect too much of the Hearthstone team?
Maybe the reprinting is not the issue, but the theme or the storytelling that isn't strong enough.

Think about the previous expansions. There was way more marketing; video content, blog posts etc. Much more content to bring you in the mood.

Yeah, something definately feels different. The hype, the videos. All are less impactful, like they were "ok here's your next batch of Hearthstone cards, enjoy". It's not about the lore, cus frankly, Hearthstone does not have a lore. Even the devs said themselves that the Inn represents a "break" from the usual Warcraft shenenigans. It's a type of place were all Warcraft characters (even demised), no matter their faction etc go to blow off steam in a friendly manner. There is only so much you can build on this premise, so they are trying to build something upon those few original things they've created themselves. So far each expansion was a reference to something that already existed in Warcraft, but with a gimmicky twist. We must give them a chance, maybe they will create a fun narrative with those three expansions? Maybe the Leauge of E.V.I.L will awaken some ancient force? A megadragon, an original character or something like Galakrond? That would actualy be cool. Plus Dragons always sell

And regarding the concept of "keeping the archetypes". Maybe it's time to present something different? It ultimately turned out bad, but Odd & Even mechanic was a turn in the right direction, they really shaked the core of how a deck is built. Unfortunately true to every thing before it, the playerbase made it obtrusive and unfun.

EDIT: Interesting direction for Druid they've taken there. Because ramp is always issue-prone, and armor stacking is usually criticized with the existance of Warrior class, they are now focusing on healing aspect of the Druid class. Some really nice synergies there, I like the Crystal Stags and all those spell generating cards (the new Legendary counts as one). It's easy to see the synergies with the two newly revealed cards (Lifeweaver and Dreamway Guardians). I don't see Heal/Spell Druid ever becoming a new archetype (not aggresive enough plus no win condition), but it will be fun to try it I think.

EDIT of EDIT: Another powerful tool for Heal Druid. There are ways to trigger it's ability. Primordial Drake stats, which are still solid, even at this point of the game (question is if dormant effect compensates the cost enough, as in the case of Drakes AoE effect). Might be tricky to utilize (although the second Druid Legendary should help with generating heal spells), but has a chance to be a solid and persistent late game defense mechanism. Taunt Druid all over?

EDIT 2: Damn, Amazin LP card reveal videos are soo good. At this point I think those are becoming the highlight of every future card reveal schedule.

EDIT 3: Wtf BLizzard, Value Rogue God Tier? (Togwaggle, Nozwhisker & Underbelly Fence)

1. Heal druid - Druid must be one of the hardest classes to do since they have like 3 core fantasies. Heal, dmg and tank. I do not see heal-druid being anything good at this current meta, but it is sure better than Treant druid

2. THAT REVEAL VIDEO IS SO EPIC! I freaking love it. He should do so many more.

3. Rogue is getting the most fun cards so far.

EDIT: All the neutral legendaries are pretty neat. Except Chef Nomi.

It will be interesting to see all the cards that are left for reveal. Commons and rares mostly, but those cards are usually the ones that shape the meta, other then Legendary cards, which seem ok-ish at most this time around.

Congrats Stevie! And my condolences at the same time, this game can really addict a man.

I think this thread is past its prime, but maybe you will trigger some new activity? I'm a casual and my "ladder climb" is related only to unlocking the seasonal cardbacks So I won't be of much help when it comes to meta deck refining.

But there are or were some competitive players around, maybe they will help you in your raise to Legend

Don't worry blob2, I have confidence in my skills. This is not the first card game I played, and I am pretty familiar with the cards and the mechanics of the game as I have watched various streamers and tournaments. So far I unlocked all the classes and played 7 versus games and won all of them. With Rogue. Probably my class of choice. I think I'm at acorn rank now, 47 or so. Completed all the daily quests too except one for Lunara. Will do more playing tomorrow.

Just saw the Rogue cards on Disguised's stream. Did I mention my favorite playstyle is pilfer shenanigans? Those cards enable that style of play immensely. Can't wait to try it out, but it'll be a while.

Yea, they kinda have to go big after Rastakhan's Rumble. The power level of that expansion wasn't that impressive.

- Silence Priest might see a comeback (actually I always liked the deck, had some success with it back in the day it first appeared)
- Scargil -> a very powerful Murloc Legend. Plus a few solid new Murlocs, especially Toxfin, which will be a staple in any Murloc deck (super cheap hard removal, and it's easy to generate Murlocs). They want this archetype back
- Mage gets a lot of spell damage stuff, might see play
- Warlock might be strong afterall. Impferno will be a staple in Demon decks and probably zoo. Darkest Hour imo will have decks built around it
- Scraphound -> people already created a combo with this, Sweeping Strikes and Ziliax (15 dmg and armor)
- Whirlwind Tempest -> might be super strong in Shaman, but needs build up.
- Magic Carpet -> will be staple in zoo/aggro decks
- Heroic Innkeeper -> might be OP
- Safeguard -> new Belcher?
- Faceless Rager -> first ever useful Rager! (well maybe aside of Rouge one and Wax Rager )
- Sunreaver Spy -> staple in any Secret deck
- Potion Vendor -> will be used in many decks

Downside? Year of the Dragon, yet we only got 3 Dragons + one Dragon support minion

EDIT: Now that we know every card I was thinking what I want to try/craft, depending on what I'll get in packs ofc. I will have around 10000 dust, so there are options:
- Heal Druid -> I like this concept a lot, might even think of crafting the Stags, which might work in any Druid deck actually (8/8 stats with Rush for 5 is pretty cool, and the new Spell makes it that much easier). I might actually consider Stalladris. He seems like a good all around Legendary.
- Kalecgos -> must craft for me. Seems like a decent card overall and a DRAGON. Probably will craft Khadgar cus I don't see this card not working. When it comes to Mage decks there are options: either "minion" Mage or Spell Dmg Mage. Plus we will get Vargoth as a freebie.
- Dragon Speaker -> must craft. The only question is if I need two. Definitely will add it to my Dragon-Pala. I would love to have Nozari, but it's hard to tell if she will be any good... maybe in Wild after Consorts cost reduction?

Whew, the reveal of the remaining cards did the trick for me. There was a lot more interesting stuff, and well maybe it tied some of the things together.

I am looking forward to launch day.

I do believe Mage and rogue got the best cards. Looking forward to owning Kalecgos

Few weird things so far. I had the blurry bug yesterday, but not at all today. Expert AI missed lethal and has bad order sometimes (drawing last seems common). Have 5 classes to level 10, need just 4 more. Will probably invest my gold in arena runs, hopefully the rewards are worth the gamble. I say that but I don't actually know if that's the most cost efficient way to get started, if anyone has any advice I'd like to hear it.

Other than that, having fun with the game. Win streak on ladder went to 11. That new mage card seems really good for Rogue, double sap on turn 6, double fan of knives on 7. I even added a +1 spell damage creature and it was glorious. Has a lot of potential.

So the new patch dropped. I'll wait with Vargoth until 9th probably, it will be more fun to try him in decks with new cards. Nice bonus: you get a unique cardback per each device you use to play H: PC/IOS/Android. I grabbed two Interesting thing with Stalladris. Because of his effect they added new art to second variants of "Choose one" spells. I really like it when they add those little touches, like with Staghelm and his "combined" minions.

@Stevie
It's hard for me to say if Arena is an efficient way to grind. It certainly was some time ago, I usually got somewhere between 5-6 wins (over 7 wins let's you go "infinite"). But these days, when I play Arena, people highroll some really strong cards. I play Arena only when I get a bonus ticket.

But you should try a few rounds. If you're good enough you'll grab a few wins, because on your current player level you will probably be queued with newb players. In my case I'm already at 6300+ wins, so the in-game algorithms probably put me against more expierienced players.

Practice AI is weak in Hearthstone, it does some really poor plays. If you want a challange go for Adventures. AI shortcomings are compensated with OP value cards/powers.

3-4 wins in Arena gives you your money's worth. Any more than that and it's better than buying packs. Theoretically, 7 lets you go infinite, but if you're playing only one run per day and manage to hit your daily quest you need less to stay afloat.

I don't think that the arena algorithm takes into account your ladder rank. It tries to pit you against players with the same current arena score you have.

When I was where you are now, Stevie, I hoarded gold for the adventures and when I had enough, used the rest on arena. But that is more for fun than efficiency.

Yeah, I'm not sure about the logic behind Arena pairings. Blizzard does explain some things (card drop rates for instance), but most is kept in secret. Definitely it gets harder the further you go in Arena cus it pits you against decks which won more games. My observation is that when I played Arena back in the day first three wins were usually really easy cus people had literally s*** decks. But currently when I start to play I'm pitted against strong, almost constructed-level decks from the get go. Either they changed the card pick rates drastically (well da, they tweak around this mode a lot) or the algorithm does pit me against stronger, more accomplished players who know how to build an Arena deck. Or it might be the case of people being simply better at playing Arena overall, as the mode is not for the feint of the heart.

Adventures are worth their money if you play Wild, which I doubt you will do at this point. I recently were looking through my Art of Hearthstone book and was reminiscenting how good for instance League of Explorers was. Literally every card was solid if not meta-defining. Imo it's worth it to have like 45 very good cards then 130 random ones (and most importantly cheaper). Good times

That's because they changed the card pick algorithm in the last year (I think). They banned certain cards that are not suited for arena and introduced the bucket system which let's you pick 1 out of 3 cards with similar power level rather than the same rarity (except for legendaries). So the variance of power level in decks is smaller now.

And I'm pretty sure that he can't purchase wild adventures without paying real money now. I missed out on League of Explorers because I wasn't active back then and I don't have the option to play it now.

Got level 10 on all classes and I got that free arena run. It was... bad. 2 wins and 3 loses. I went for a Deathrattle Rogue but the cards were all over the place. Still a ton of fun was had. Opening my packs I got Hogger legendary, might be useful in constructed, have yet to try him out.
