Some selected mods
Hi everyone! Considering that Quanetomas' AI patch is nearing its final incarnation (maybe, but this should be useful even if it isn't), and unfortunately Magnomagus' excellent mod "The HOMM 5 : Role Playing Edition" isn't compatible with last versions of it, I have decided to post a few parts of RPE that I extracted from it and I'm using when I'm playing with 3.1j version of AI mod :
1) Sylvan Magic.h5u - Changes magic affinity in Sylvan town Magic Guild to Light and Summoning magic to differentiate it from Fortress town Magic Guild. Also gives switches chances for getting Summoning and Destructive magic for Ranger heroes. If you think that it will be close to Academy now, it won't, just remember that Academy can have high level spells from Destruction and Dark magic with Library built, so now all towns are more original in their magic schools. Also Summoning really fits Sylvan and not having high level Destructive magic in Magic Guild makes Imbue Ballista skill a little bit more balanced.
2) Treasure Banks.h5u - includes variety at fights for all kinds Treasure Banks on Adventure map. Previously, alternative upgrades brought by Tribes Of The East expansion were absent from them. Now you can encounter all combinations of upgrades of creatures guarding the Banks.
I hope that Magnomagus won't mind that I posted parts of hes work here, but I'm just doing it for people who want do use something like this and would like to use Quantomas' AI but can't extract it themselves and there is little hope that AI will become compatible with RPE anytime at all.
Of course those 2 are completely Magnomagus' work and they have absolutely nothing of mine, apart from butchering the files...
Now, there are also 2 very small mods that I made for mine personal use, but decided to post them, so who wants them can have them :
1) Balances.h5u - nothing very big, just :
- added spell Cleanse (at Advanced level) to both Sky Daughter and Earth daughter, so Stronghold now have slightly better defense against Dark magic. Also increased spell points by 4 for both of them so for example Sky Daughter can cast Chain Lightning immediately once at the start of the fight, to make them more useful. Of course for any of subsequent casting they have do do the Goblin Sacrifice.
- Increased speed of Archdevils (from 7 to 9) and Archdemons (from 6 to 8) to make them more along the line of Devils of old HoMMs.
- Added immunity to Mind Control and Fire to Red Dragons (really strange that they didn't have it at the first place) to make them more appealing to choose next to Black Dragons.
2) Name changes.h5u : just replaces names for Storm Titan and Vermin in favor of their respective beta ones - Storm Lord and Quasit, simply because they sound better to me.
