Name me two one creature that jumped factions between Heroes 5 and 6. (Sorry, Manticores went from neutral to dungeon)
Now start counting the ones that did between 2 and 3.

I'm sorry, but what's that got to do with rules?
You know how the H6 Stronghold is nothing like the H5 Stronghold
thematically nor geographically aside from a certain focus on might,
so too are the H2 and H3 Towers nothing alike (aside from a focus on magic).

The rules of allies and enemies. The rules of who belongs to what faction.
And the changing of those alliances is one thing, but not explaining them from a lore perspective is another. At least in 4, they had the decency to explain, even if you had to look for it, why several people and creatures jumped factions.

Culturally, the two Strongholds indeed differ somewhat. But they are still Orcs, Goblins, Centaurs and Cyclops living in a barbaric clan in unforgiving environments. The differences are due to geographic reasons.
But indeed the Wizard towns of 2 and the Towers of 3 share wizards, titans, golems and mages and very little else.
And as above, the changing is one thing, the not explaining the changes is another.

So what, all Centaurs behave the same to you?
Warlocks and Wizards can't both create Gargoyles?

Again, the change is something I might be able to accept. I take offence at the lack of explaination of the change.

That may be, but that still does not change that the moves between the continents allowed the creators to rewrite all the rules as they pleased.
That's true.
But I think it is better to change some rules that to change none just for the sake of consistency. I'm concerned that H7 factions may be a copy of H6 ones with little changes

Again, I'm in an entirely different boat. I take more offense at the rather poor explanation of some changes.
"Vampires are retroactively superior to Liches because they age backwards"
"Did we say Rakshasa were spirits? Yeah, they're beastmen now"
"Uh, our Dungeon faction's likeness to Warhammer's Dark Elves is a little too close for comfort.
Here, have some more H3 Dungeon inspired creatures."

Just realized Phoenixes used to be Academy creatures.
Despite of the fact they are neutral in V and VI, hope to see them among Sylvans in the future.

In H5 they kinda were academy's trademark, they needed that summon too much They are no longer fire-based but instead primordial creatures which could work for academy.. That said, in doc they are called moon phoenixes so perhaps there are sun pronixes as well. And that I would love to see in sylvan. I've always believed that the phoenix was most fitting in a nature faction, representing the cycle of seasons and all.

And it helps on the Dragon problem of Heroes V too

No, the moon is where the souls go to be reborn. So Moon Phoenix makes sense, Sun Phoenix doesn't.

The lore has yet to be fully revealed. I'm sure they could come up with something if they wanted to.

And they'll screw something if they wanted to. No doubt about that.
(Wish they'd screw zombies into liches into vampires stuff)

Yeah, I know. But the current fractions are dunno "narrowed beings"
I mean why all orcs is bad at magic, and why all humans is bad at attacking... makes zero sense.
