first step in multiplayer starts with a problem
hello, people, i have read that stickied thread, yeah i did, but it didn't contain my problem. i was using gameranger, and when i played other games it worked 100% properly, but not for HOMM 3. and i DO have complete, version 4.0. i wanted to play with someone. after the game launched, i clicked that new game and chose a map, all was good till this point, he was there and i was able to see his messages. but when i try to start playing, the problem starts here: it stops in 'sending data 98%' a bit. i wait some seconds, and here we are at the game, but after some minutes it apeared that i wasn't playing with my friend, but with the A.I i even asked him, he said that he wasn't there. and yeah my firewall is off. i don't know what is the problem - oh wait! one detail i forgot to mention: when i try to make or join a room, gameranger gives me a message titled "Port-Restricted Cone NAT Router":
Your internet connection is behind a port-restricted cone NAT Router that may prevent you from connection to some players in peer-peer games. but i didn't have trouble connecting to my friend, please help me resolve my problem.
EDIT: on a side note, i tried to connect to bloodsucker but that didn't work, my friend said he could connect to both of us, so the connection problem is between me and bloodsucker, and by the way, what are peer-peer games?

Two things come to mind:
1. Both players should use the very same version - in today's rich of versions environment - this is an issue
2. if you have routing restrictions - better use hamachi, not gameranger, i'm not sure what gameranger uses to secure the players LAN visibility - but i know how hamachi works - it creates a virtual local area network for you, so routing problems should not exist there (if you can ping each-other - all is well)

hmmm thanks, i'll try this so called "hamachi". by the way, what are peer-peer games?
what in ****, happened here? i left for some days and when i was back i saw the fresh junk in the forum... and for the 15 anniversary, thing, none cares about parties, the only care to play - LIKE A BOSS.
and by the way, since this thread talked about a problem, i will show you a solution for a problem that you may face:
when you install a new operating system on your PC and HOMM III remains, the following happens:
and like the little picture says, nothing is missing, and trust me, nothing is, so he do we resolve this problem? simple:
