Looking for your opinons of the best custom campaigns and versus maps!
Now that I have made a poor attempt at finding a topic to post in, I can actually ask the question I came here for!
My wife's discovery of this game has rekindled my desire to play it again. She's very good, much better than I am or ever was. I was hoping the community here could suggest some huge maps she and I could versus on. Preferably ones that keep us far apart, dealing with our own problems until we finally crash into each other at the end. The reason I ask for something like THAT is because, in any map, the instant we find the other one, we ignore the AI and beat the tar out of each other, basically ending the map prematurely.
On that same note, if you guys could suggest some great co-op maps as well, we'd really appreciate that too. We simply don't have time anymore to hunt through tons of maps hoping for a brilliant gem.
However, I DO have more free time than her, and in that time, I was hoping to enjoy some custom made campaigns and maps of truly epic quality. I've played many custom maps, my favorites being the ones with The Narrator, like Sander's Folly. The Pen and the Sword (I think that's what it's called?) is another of my favorites.
Now, due to my poor playing style, (I prefer to use one hero and played "RPG" style maps to compliment that) I have trouble finding maps I truly enjoy. I love maps that use one or two heroes and have a huge story about that hero's journey. The kinds of maps with tons and tons of triggers and all that. Maps like the ones I talked about in the previous paragraph.
Anyway, I'm digressing a bit. The third thing I'm hoping people will suggest for me are maps and custom campaigns. Preferably ones that relate to all the stuff I just fanboy'd over a minute ago.
Thanks guys!
I can't believe this place is still thriving after so long. Makes me very happy.

- The Lord of War (mostly stronghold)
- To Kill for Power (mostly inferno)
- The Empire of the World II (mostly castle)
- Unleashing the bloodthirsty (mixed)
- The Lone Knight (fraction choseable, necro is most fun)
- Vengeance is mine (fortress...mixed)
Those are some of the best XL maps for H3 SOD
Best custom campaign would be "Eternal Love" I would say....8 maps....great story...partially hard...

I find this topic interesting.
I've been playing a lot a map I made following XLNT instructions where I have to beat tons of level two and three monsters and rob many cripts...
I add it some other things, for instance three behemoths dwellings (to take with Luna) and so on.
I admit I'm getting tired of playing so many times the same battles but maps like Wayfarer or Metataxer are way above me.
Can someone sujest me some good old fashion maps with lots of battles that can be beatten using tecnics like the one in HOMM3 Tactics and where u don't have to beat 10 rusties with one crystal just to survive day one.
To Kill for Power is a good example of what I mean, at least until where I left it a few months ago.
I would apreciate if some of them were Wog maps.
Just by curiosity, was ever an The Empire of the World (I)? Does someone still have it?

Don't worry, Metataxer and Wayfarer are way above me too. I don't deny they are genius but maps where you must reload 2 weeks earlier because you didn't know a quest has a time-line, or reload a battle 150 times because a single morale can ruin it, well, those are for people on heroin thus insensible to frustration.
Metataxer had a big problem, the very first battle asked for an unique strategy never used before (summon elementals to fill a town squares).
I was stuck at that battle for more than one week, and when solution came, I had no more enthusiasm to continue the map. Puzzles should be progressive in any map, don't put your most complicate at start or people will just give up.

My experience with Metataxer was over with the first battle as well.
The problem was that after very long time the battle was over and some error occured and took me out of the program.
Then I was told I MUST play it with HD mod.
Now I have HD mod,but haven't tried it again yet.

So it gets easier after the water elementals trick?
When I saw the solution I decided to wait for the movie...
You of all people must know, was there ever a TEW 1?

I looked for it a few days ago and I couldn't found it. Same for To Kill and Tew2, but those I already had them.
I tought Maps4Heroes deleted old posts, since the site doesn't have a section explainning administration rules.

Is extremely hard to find, had to type more than one letter then push search button, I feel exhausted.

Ok, then find "To Kill for Power" or "The word of god" (the last one I'm sure I downloaded from there years ago).
But it's probably my mistake, cause today I found all TEW versions.

You know, I got excited when I saw I had seven new replies to my thread. "Wow, I didn't think that many people had things to suggest!" I thought.

OK, touché. If u play WoG, here is a list of maps I tryied and liked.
1. The Dragon Slauther (can be played for 7 factions and is full of surprises)
2. The Empire of the World III (and any Valery Rogacev aka Salamandre map, they are all hard and beautifull)
3. Fool (this is one of those that can waste your brain)
for SoD I would only add "A dream of Mr. Dafoe" and "The pen and the sword"
