Recommend for a QP
I would like to recommend Lexxan get a QP for his Eurovision 2014 thread in the Tavern.
I have never before been so interested in Eurovision in my entire life until now lol. Not because of the music, which I can barely listen to, but purely because of Lexxan's posts, descriptions and ratings.
The whole thread is great and I would love to see it get a QP.

A few years ago or so, somebody else pointed out the same thing and also recommended QP's. The magnitude of dedication and typing he puts into a contest of the lowest kind of pop music nobody gives a damn about is really interesting. Lexxan rarely writes long but when he does, he seems like a smart guy, so I'm wondering if the whole dedication is an irony. Or maybe I think like that because in my country, since 1990's, caring about Eurovision is kind of perceived like caring about the Jerry Springfield Show; people who know better stay away.

I'm not a great fan of the genre anyway but even musicians I enjoy come up with the most cliche and shallow songs when it comes to Eurovision. If you want to hear some quality contemporary Turkish music, watch Fatih Akin's Crossing The Bridge.

Speaking of Crossing The Bridge, I love the Madonna cover at the end of the movie by Sertab Erener.
She won the Eurovision, sometime in mid 2000's, but again, the winning song was screaming like, how do we turn music into the lamest touristic attraction.

Exactly. Eurosongs are europropaganda to the winning countries.
They mostly are songs that are cliche, nobody probably belives in the messsage of eurosongs and in the rising neo-fascism in europe , it makes little sense for something like eurosong to exist.
The songs are bad, the political influence determines points, they sprout a message nobody believes in or has any interest in.
I wish it died. I feel sorry for Lexxan and people who watch eurovison.

I just think that Lexxan's Eurovision posts are humorous, well thought out and entertaining. He gives a great breakdown of all the entries. I don't even need to listen to them (which is a blessing). And of course I want to find out if his predictions are correct, because if they are I have a side line I would like to introduce him to
But in all seriousness, its a quality thread and if Lexxan has been doing this every year, then damn, give the guy a QP.

I have a rather unhealthy obsession for Eurovision, which was only fuelled by my current unemployment and of course, the proximity of the contest itself. My passion will probably die down as soon as it ends though, lol.
Isn't there a tavern thread for this though? lol.

I guess Joonas deserves one for just being a great supportive presence that promotes healthy discussion and input with his well-reasoned comments. Supportive posters are imo, largely underrated presences on internet boards, but they are essential in motivating those that provide content.
But Joonas wouldn't be the only one here to deserve a reward for that reason, I suppose.

Btw, is it all in English now? I remember back in the 80's, the songs were all in the native language of the contestants. It made more sense in an event which countries themselves competed.

It's free choice of language now, meaning that most countries default to English, but every now and then we still get native languages.
I wouldn't be opposed to having the language rule reinstated since the only countries it would practically screw over are Azerbaijan (whom I hate), Turkey (who ragequit the contest after missing the finale once  ) and finland (who are bullied, underrated angels that would do poorly regardless anyway).
Say, instead of debating whether or not i should get a QP, how about you post in the thread so I can do more updates? how about that?

If I think of something relevant and if it helps, sure, I'll post in your thread. But I fail to see the connection, how does people not posting prevent you from updating your thread? If it's the three post rule, you can always edit your existing posts.
