Why no Sanctuary?
As someone who skipped Heroes 6 entirely, I am very disappointed Sanctuary won't even be considered in Heroes 7.
Of course, I want both Sylvan and Fortress to be in the base game but we can't have that. My third choice is Sanctuary.
I'd much rather have Nagas over another set of elves or overused demons.
So, the reason why this warrants another thread is to have a full discussion of whether or not HC wants Sanctuary over Dungeon and Inferno. I won't be excited for the second poll. I don't care about Dungeon or Inferno.

It's not official, but one of the articles mentions this specifically, so that lends support to it.
II. In your opinion, why didn't they consider Sanctuary?
It's my impression that Sanctuary got poor reviews in H6. Imo. it was one of the only good things about H6, but that's what I've seen elsewhere.
III. Do you like Sanctuary to be in the base game? Why?
I liked the artstyle of sanctuary a lot, and it was nice to have a new faction. Maybe we'll get it in an expansion?
IV. Where does Sanctuary rank among the five for you? (Sylvan, Fortress, Inferno, Dungeon, Sanctuary)
Sylvan > Sanctuary > Fortress > Dungeon > Inferno

I. Is Inferno vs Dungeon the second poll official?
We won't know for sure until the vote appears on the Heroes 7 site but some previews mentioned that this will be our second vote.
II. In your opinion, why didn't they consider Sanctuary?
They said they want to bring the old Heroes feeling back and Sanctuary is a new faction. Both Dungeon and Inferno are way more iconic for the Heroes series.
Another reason could be that they want to avoid the same backlash Sanctuary got in H6 because it was an Asian-inspried faction that mixed various eastern cultures. Perhaps they want to flesh out the faction more before bringing it back into the game. Or perhaps Sanctuary simply didn't fit the storyline of Heroes 7.
III. Do you like Sanctuary to be in the base game? Why?
While I would have liked them to be back in Heroes 7 with only 6 factions for release I'm ok with prioritizing other factions over Sanctuary.
Still I hope they will be added later in an Expansion. I had much fun with them in Heroes 6. Sanctuary together with Dungeon was my favorite faction in that game. And it's always good to see something new from time to time and not only the standard factions like Haven, Necropolis or Stronghold for example.
IV. Where does Sanctuary rank among the five for you? (Sylvan, Fortress, Inferno, Dungeon, Sanctuary)
For me they rank below Sylvan and Dungeon but above Inferno and Fortress.
IV. Do you prefer the Nagas over the Demons or the Dark Elves?
While I find Nagas more interesting than Demons (the only Inferno faction I really liked thus far was in Heroes 3) for me the Dark Elves are way more interesting than the other two factions.

Semi-official. It was in a german magazine article and they didn't pull it out of thin air.

Because Nagas are supposed to have left the continent completely shortly after H6.

I like Nagas, but I didn't like the faction nor what it was standing for.

Last. I'm a die-hard fan of Inferno. I like Sylvan and Fortress a lot (which made the last vote quite hard) and I prefer Dungeon far over Sanctuary.

Well, according to the storyline, imo, Demons have nothing to do in there ... Why would Duke Ivan ask for a demon counsellor ? So, from here, Nagas would make more sense than Demons. I'd also prefer a Naga over a Dark Elf because I'm sure they wouldn't miss an opportunity to add once more Raelag to this game

Sanctuary is only hated in HOMM6 because of the water woman, if they changed that it would be less hated and higher on the lists.

I like Sanctuary. It is the best faction in Heroes VI, imo. Their Asiatic style brings fresh air to the game, and their philosophy is very interesting.
IV. Where does Sanctuary rank among the five for you? (Sylvan, Fortress, Inferno, Dungeon, Sanctuary)
Sylvan > Sanctuary > Fortress > Dungeon* > Inferno
* good Dungeon line up and arts (not too purplish, no S/M sexualization of female elves) and flavourful gameplay (Warlock spellfest is interesting imho) will make Dungeon preferable than Fortress.

In all seriousness though, maybe because it'd take a lot of creative writing to implement it. Seeing how that isn't their strong suit and da fans have been quite vocal about it, they didn't dare do it.

Yes. Though I like Dungeon equal to Sanctuary, I don't like Dark Elves much. Since HeroesV I've been an advocate of a Minotaur Uprising and have the Minotaurs replace the Dark Elves as the main race of Dungeon. Not that that is gonna happen any time soon, but a man can dream.

Demons in Heroes have always seemed interesting to me, even in H5 where they were really weak. They had an interesting skill tree and creatures.
Whereas Dark Elves are my favourite faction in every game they exist.
So I hope the next poll is not that.

Because Heroes 6 was a bad game and Sanctuary was the only new faction to the series in that game. Bad memories, I guess?

No. Because that would mean one of the better factions would be out.

No, but it's the most plausible one. Surely they are testing waters to know how popular is the "defeated" faction. They might pull a twist and battle Fortress again if they really want it in the game.
II. In your opinion, why didn't they consider Sanctuary?
Not only they want to put the spotlight on the ignored factions, it might not be easy to reinvent the lineup and also to include them in the story.
III. Do you like Sanctuary to be in the base game? Why?
I would and I'd replace Haven with them but for the aforementioned reason I can accept that they are sitting this one out now that we're getting Academy and Sylvan.

Number one easily!

Yes, definitely especially over Demons. Dark Elves were cool in H6 but only second after the Naga.

I hope no. After H3 Inferno is vital part of the game. We cant skip them. So I hope no voting here. They must be in.

I think most fans dont like them. Lets stop the experiments. Lets have classical game!

I don't need them. But I'll like to see H3 style swamp race. They are much more charismatic. And I loved them.

Last. Inferno is first. There cant be heroes game now without the demons. Sylvan is second. There MUST be classical elves. Then I put Dungeon - the old dungeon, or Fortress if its the new Dungeon. One elf town is enough.

Not at all. They are so different and... not mythology/legend like, that they will always look outside the game. They are not vital part of the series as the demons and they even more poor as idea then dark elves. That's imo. BUT. If there Sylvan I hope they will not put Dungeon in. One elf town is enough.

In case of stream of negative opinions by fandom. Lineup of Sanctuary was not so good and that faction has replaced some traditional factions.

I like the idea of city of water nagas, reptiles and beastmen but i'm interested in Eastern culture a lot and in my opinion current H6-Sactury is fulled with boring stereotypical creatures and useless elementals.

I hope not. I'd like to see uneven fight between fans of Sanctuary and Dungeon. We can take a break from fire-aliens for a while  .

I secretly hope they did . Sanctuary is strongly connected with H6 and people dislike it. Line up was also really uninspiring and made fans crazy (Elite tier... Just terrible...).

It would be smth new. I'm a big fan of changes and "new" towns in Heroes saga. What was the power of H3? New towns. Everything has been changed  . It was awesome. And fresh!

I like H6 version of Dark Elves. Hereos 5 idea of Dungeon was too "warhammerish" and... uninspiring. In H6 we finally had something original with strong H3 vibe . I love beasts and underground, elven blades were a nice touch.
Dungeon is a town with a long tradition but I've seen Black Dragon so many times that I can say to him "see you" and greet Kirin with open arms .
