Falcon's Last Flight?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Falcon's Last Flight in Heroes V shows that the Falcon Dynasty is destroyed by Demons. Jezebeth, to be more exact.
How come that demons don't seem to play a role in Heroes VII until now?

How.. if they get voted we will se how they will be implemented. If you are talking about the Forum name.. it's just a name, and H7 is based on those events.. they were the triger

Well, if Duke Ivan wants help to stop the civil war, do you really think he's going to ask demons' help ? Why the hell would even a demon help him ? They'd benefit more from the chaos of a civil war.

You are correct. But many people seem to be rather tired of the Demons due to them having only one dimension to them or at least having only had one dimension shown.
Heroes VII seems to be set 5 years after the events you refer to.
But it could be that the Demons will be back if they win the next vote. It seems likely that they will be a contestant in that.

I am too tired to check all details, but here you have official story about 4th Eclipse and rise of Holy Griffin (Eternal!) Empire from H5 times:

I'm guessing Demons or Dark Elves won't be invited in the council. Instead, they'd probably crash the party giving their story to Ivan in support because they'd want him to be in the throne over the Stag duchy or something.
That or it's Sanctuary vs Dungeon (I hope it's this one and I'll vote for Sanctuary and convince all my U-play playing friends to do the same like no tomorrow).

Some things have. but this part that Avonu quoted is the same in the original from H5 and the retconed from H6 times. Mostly it got expanded with new games like CoH, DoC, H6 and MaMX

Ok so I read a plot synopsis (I admit I never finished the Heroes 6 campaigns), and now all of it makes sense except the early necromancer presence. Necromancers shouldn't gain power in the Seven Cities until 100 years later, and Necromancers aren't formed into a separate faction from the Wizards until another 100 years after that.

... They should do their games in chronological order. That way nobody would know what was the plot already. Same thing for most hollywood trilogies n stuff.

Considering how horrible Ashan's lore is, especially from the Heroes V era, I'm actually glad that they are moving backwards in time with each game. You don't want to base your entire story on the stereotype-ridden horror Nival wrote. By retconing and adding to some historical events, they actually risk making the story and the lore a bit interesting. Though I very much doubt it will ever reach the spiritual depths of Tarnum's adventures or Heroes IV vanilla, of course.

So it is roughly 300 years after Heroes VI and roughly 100 years before Heroes V. I guess outside the (most likely) absence of Faceless and Naga not much stuff will be affected in terms of units regardless...

Inferno is a valid contender for H7 release btw. The campaign does not require the presence of demons in Ashan and the protagonist needs not be aligned to the sovereign. For instance..
Kiril, though I am not in a hurry to see him again.

Ignatius!
Ignatius is an Incubus born is Sheogh as the result of a pact his mother made with Phrias, the Demon Prince of Destruction. After the debacle of the 2nd Eclipse, he and his Demon troops survived by scavenging Magic energy from the Dragon Veins. He enjoys a limited amount of freedom from Phrias after the Demon is corrupted by the Throne of Renewal. He offers to join forces with Ammar and Hakeem who decide to trust him for the duration of the battle.
Ignatius senses the tremendous Magic power dormant in the Throne of Renewal and believes he could use it to erase the curse that binds him to the Lords of Chaos, never having to return to Sheogh again. He will get his wish in another way, as after the battle a Rift opens up erasing Phrias, and therefore relieving him of his bonds to Sheogh. He is told by a Blind Brother that when he dies the next time, he will be reincarnated by Asha and not Urgash, to become once again a Man, a Dwarf or perhaps and Elf. It is of little importance because he won’t have any memories of his precedent life.
Ignatius is given an opportunity after the battle to occupy the ruins of the Five Towers with his small army of survivors, provided he does not leave the desert. He decides to remain, though it is tempting to commit suicide to be born once again a creature of Asha and not a Demon. He decides that the Dragons still have a purpose for him as an Incubus, so he remains in that form until fate or age decide to kill him. His curse is gone with the disappearance of Phrias. He becomes a rare Demon hero who lives on the surface of Ashan.

Here's the original for those who don't remember his old incarnation. I have to say, I rather prefer his Ashan version..
When the Devils arrived in Erathia, Ignatius realized that his only hope for survival was to join them. He has managed to convince them that he always serves some purpose, but fears that one day they will decide that they no longer need the help of a human.
Ignatius once served the Kreegan demons for the opportunity to vent his legendary rage. After the Reckoning, he was nursed back to health by powerful elven healers. They also cured his fury, explaining that it was a result of a curse placed on his mother before his birth.
