Homm3 Starting army/starting buildings

Hi there, I just wondered if there is any way to change something little in starting army/buildings RNG WITHOUT installing whole new mods etc. Just normal Homm version with 1 file changed in directory or something, idk. What I would want is this:

-always same number of packs of units in starting army
-always built buildings of 1st and 2nd level of creatures.

For example Ivor would always start with centaurs and 2 packs of elves, Galthran with 3 packs of skeletons, Valeska 3 packs of archers etc. etc.

It can be super unfair if 1st player with 1st lvl creature specialist starts with 1x unit and only 1st lvl built in town and 2nd player with 3x units and 2 lvls of creature built. I know you can check it in map editor but I mean in random map.

To do what you require you need access to game memory so you need to install a platform as wog or era. Then is up to you to use only one modification inside, the one you need.

Thing is I don't want WoG. I just want normal heroes without changes, only removing this RNG.

+ I wouldn't be able to do anything by myself, I'm bad at such things. I only want play. Was hoping its possible to just change some file in heroes directory and someone would make it and I would just download and put there.

You don't get it. Wog does not change anything in the game if options are disabled. Instead you only input your custom script about starting armies.

So you will have 100% regular game but with your changes only.

The only way(afaik ) outside of game that you can somehow manipulate number of units the heroes get is HoTraits.txt file that you put in "data" directory. But it does not change the probability of getting stacks of creatures, just their type and numbers.

You could use the fact that the first stack of creatures appears always(or so I think), to make it consist of most of army of heroes you mentioned. Take Shakti as an example:
Shakti 30 40 Troglodyte 30 40 Troglodyte 30 40 Troglodyte
You could change it to
Shakti 90 116 Troglodyte 1 2 Troglodyte 1 2 Troglodyte
And you would always get between 90 and 120 trogs.

I have modified some values manually(and downloaded the patch from polish forum some time ago) and now all lvl 1 and lvl 2 creature specialists should get amount of units closer to their theoretical maximum. However, I could not modify Ivor as you wanted, because he does not start with just one creature type. I am far from expert in dealing with game files.

To make the file work put it in your "Data" directory.

I do not guarantee that it will work correctly, but I think it should. Notice that it makes some heroes even more desireable, and breakes a lot of in-game balance.

And notice that it does not deal with your other problem, lvl 2 dwellings. I have no idea how to influence that.
