Basic upgrading/mods for WOG
Ok long time HOMM3 fan and ever since i moved to WOG i love the game even more   
My question is: having read a few stickys i am still confused as to what i should actually do to upgrade or get the mod to enable Huge and bigger maps in WOG? Should i be updating to ERA or is there a standalone mod i could just ad to WOG to enable this feature? Also how exactly to add mod? Copy it into the updates folder? Help!

yes, update to Era. WoG 2.0 is being worked on atm, but until it comes out, Era is a good platform to use.

Yes, WoG is obsolete, ERA II is very simple of use, and offers you a much more cleaner way to switch between mods thanks to integrated mod manager allowing you to enable and disable manually which you want by simple clic, instead of having multiple folders. You only got to be careful on not mix everything as it would ruin gameplay. Get ERA II install mods and ask questions in appropriate threads (HoL thread for HoL mod ie) if you get confused

Are you doing it by your own? Last thing I heard was that GrayFace had stoped the development of WoG 3.59.
Never before I remember to hear a word about WoG 2.0 and I would love to, believe me.

i'm not part of that. grayface asked for contributors a while back, that's how i know about it. and, that's pretty much ALL i know about it. i'm sure he has a team.
oh, snow, LOL. now i get sal's joke. when i said WoG 2.0, i meant 3.59. silly me, i forgot what it was called.

Ok excuse me if i am asking silly questions and feel free to dumb it down but how exactly would i go about upgrading to ERA II? Should i be deleting the WOG folder or install over? So from what you are saying i could have all those huge maps but have ERA II work just like WOG is this accurate? Thks again

Sorry for late response, I was too busy reading H7's threads
Yes, ERA II is like super WoG.
- Download ERA II here
- Install it over CLEAN install of H3 Complete
- There you have it
You will see there is a "ERA START MENU" app that you can open and then you go to MOD MANAGER. From there, you will be able to enable/disable mods you want.
You can download mods from here, while here there a lot of deleted links but you have good images and descriptions, check last pages of threads though 
I suggest also to install HDMOD
Feel free to ask for any difficulties you might encounter
PS If all of this seems to complicated and you don't want to look through all this huge material, Horn of the Abyss is outstanding expansion that you should try anyway, fan-made but could have been done by NWC themselves
