Why not all three?
Something crossed my mind, why not all three of lineups for Sylvan. Inter-changeable. Each faction could have 3 different lineups like 3 inter-changeable "subfactions". Each subfaction is defined by the starting hero's class. One class is universal and chooses the subfaction at the start of the game through a menu. For example,
Haven:
Classes:
Knight(Universal)
Commander(Wolf Duchy)
Like this.
Inquisitor(Griffin Duchy):
Core-(Praetorian, Crossbowman, Vestal)
Elite-(Glories, Chaplains, Griffins)
Champion-(Seraphs, Sun Riders)
Field Marshal(Stag Duchy)
Core-(Guards, Longbowmen, Direwolves)
Elite-(Watchers, Horsemen, Griffins)
Champion-(Seraphs, Swordbearers)
What do you think? What about the other factions, Necropolis, Academy, Stronghold, what troop tree do you think they should have?

Of course that it would be amazing to have stuff like this, alternative faction lineup(or should I say different type of the same faction), but devs have stated already that they don't have enough resources even for all of the factions, let alone some of them having alternative lineups.

Nice idea i really like it. Unfortunatly it would never happen though, ubi won't spend that kind of time or money on it. It would be awesome if they did something like that though

Yeah well I wasn't thinking about total remake of units. Just retouch of some of them for variation.
Another thought of mine is Necropolis:
Necro I:
Core-(Skeleton, Ghoul, Zombie)
Elite-(Lamasu, Lich, Weaver)
Champion-(Reaper, Bone Dragon)
Necro II:
Core-(Skeleton, Ghoul, Ghost)
Elite-(Lamasu, Vampire, Lich)
Champion-(Reaper, Death Knight)
Necro III:
Core-(Skeleton, Ghost, Zombie)
Elite-(Weaver, Lich, Vampire)
Champion-(Reaper, Bone Dragon)

Why not. I would really like to see this.
It is quite sad, that they "want to deliver the best Heroes experience ever", but they do not even have enough resources for all factions

I think they're focusing too much on the graphics and THAT causes them to limit their faction variety.

I Think, the ONLY possibility that Ubi would add this would be if the game sells INCREDIBLY well and there is a huge pressure from the Community that they should do it.

Rather than 3 subfactions / faction have a different creatures system that will work like this:
All factions start with 7 core creatures, you'll be able to upgrade 4 creatures to elite and finally choose 1 champion. This means that any creature can become your champion and will also create more versatility in the game.
An easy example of this is: a peasant can become a knight which in turn can become emperor.
With this versatility you can choose your own play-style that suits you or gives you an advantage due to campaign/scenario needs. This will make champions units really feel like champions as you choose them. So you can fight with a mighty champion being supported by the army or you can play with a mighty army being enhanced by a powerful magic wielding champion backloading the battlefield. And when you kill or lose a champion the army really feels like it lost it`s head.
This will work even better as the upgrades themselves will be more flexible, and it is possible for those who say that some creatures simply cannot have a core-elite-champion counterpart compensation. Of course they can, simply with more ingenuity. We have heroes that are simple humanoids that can overcome in power any other creatures as example.

That won't work in most factions. For Haven you can make Knight out of Peasant, but you can't make Treant or Unicron out of Elf, nor you can make Vampires out of Ghosts/Ghouls/Zombies/Skeletons.
Well we are presenting here all our wishes, so this is mine that is a bit more viable(because of the Limbic's budget for the game) than the one is the original post:
Combination of the current system and Heroes 4(even though I am not fan of Heroes 4 creature system).
So every faction has 11 creatures, 4 cores/4 elites/3 Champions, and you are choosing 3/3/1. This way all these votes for faction lineups are unnecessary as you will have all of the creatures but different tactics will require different creatures, and some people will prefer other creatures. There will be a ton of diversity.
This is my idea, but the idea isn't somewhat unique as I am sure someone else already thought about it or something very close to it.

I think is a good idea. If only devs would put this much effort into the game it could be the best yet.

It's a brilliant idea. The moment I saw those line ups I thought immediately that each faction should have 3. Similar idea is being implemented in the new mortal kombat coming next year where each character has 3 different "styles" chosen upon picking character. This approach solves the eternal problem where character A is countering character B and character B was countering character C. Now 1 style of character A is better then 1 style of character B but 2nd style of B counters 1st of A. Now imagine that Sylvan Strength of the forest has slight advantage over some line up of Dungeon but second line up of Dungeon has the advantage over strength of the forest Sylvan. I don't mean that it's a default victory but it has units and access to skills which can withstand Sylvans' and have a fair battle. It was always annoying that when you played multiplayerwith strangers they were often choosing faction which has biggest win ratio against yours. With line up variations your opponent would have to scout and test you to discover what line up you have what units and what are your weaknesses insread of just going "oh it's a dungeon then I'm playing orcs today"
