Poll Question: change the interface!!!
This poll is about game interface!
in my opinion the interface in Heroes 6 was just plain lazy
this "modern" look was unacceptable , and didnt fit heroes series
as an example of what interface should look like i'd use HoMM4
which is atmospheric and magical i think..
which HoMM game should be used as example for H7 in your opinion
please vote..

As pretty as H4's interface is, I prefer the functionality of H5 - clear enough to know what's what, but doesn't take up a fourth of the screen.

I have nothing against the new style of the interface (H 5/6). They were functional and that is important.
And as much as I loved the H2 interface with its Good/evil options, I'm not really sure if such vizualy complex interfaces are useful for the current games
I mean there is a large variety of resolutions for which it would have to be optimized and even then this might severely affect the graphics.

I don't like H4's interface. Maybe I'm coloured by my overall dislike for the game, but it seems too clunky and the colour is also not good. I liked H5 and H6 interface, I think H6 interface in particularly was pretty sleek and elegant without making too much of its own presence.

I voted Heroes 3, because it seems the most generic for a Heroes game and it really fits with the towns and the maps. I don't like the Heroes 4 interface though.

Heroes 3 for me. Specifically the part where it covered the entire lower part of the screen, and it had more utility buttons on the left, capitol, castle, etc.

I found H6's streamlined interface detrimental to my immersion.
Moreover, cumbersome to navigate.
Most other HoMM interfaces are preferable to it.

H6 was kinda functional. but i wish it was more functional. and a little pretty graphic details would be nice. i voted for h6, closest option to my choice.

That depends.... The adventure map, battle map and townscreen interface can be really different.
I actually like the H4 adventure map interface but loathe the battle interface. The problem with that style is that recent heroes games lack many of the options H4 had so there is no need for the scrolldown menus.
The H5 interface on the other hand while not as characteristic as its predesessors managed to have functuality as well as some charm to it. It gets bonus points for having a console friendly layout, thus helping the console crowd feel right at home since they grew up on those horrid controls and are almost uncapable to use more advanced options.
H6 sacrificed too much charm for utilitys sake so thet is a no go I hope.

I think we should meet somewhere between h3/h4 style and h5 style. The good thing about h5 was that the interfae was very functional in regard of buttons. You had all the functions when and where you needed them. Btw the thing in h6 where you could put your own buttons in the lower right side was actually pretty neat, too. But these design had one big letdown, they were far less informative than h3/h4 interface. Just some examples: in h3/h4 you could always see the current heroe's stats and army, now you have to wait for a pop-up or click on it, which for example isn't possible when you're in a building where you have to decide which stat to level. in the town screen you can't see the crreature's growth or how many you have right now before clicking on the buy screen. furthermore you now have to click through all the towns to switch to another one, in h3/h4 you had the scrollable lists.
So my idea woulld be to combine the informative aspekts of the old interface with the slim and practical h5 like interface.
