What's with the Ponies?
So they released the names of the months in their new calendar. And... they are My Little Pony names. They are not names of months, they are not old school HoMM months, they aren't even fantasy names, they are literally MLP pony names.
• Moon Mother
• Night Veil
• Sun Blossom
• Emerald Song
• Azure Tides
• Dancing Flames
• Laughing Winds
• Blood Moon
• Shining Star
• Radiant Crown
• Spider Queen
• White Maiden
With the noticeable exception of "Spider Queen," all of those are names that could come out of a Brony name generator. Indeed, most of them already have. Names like "Emerald Song" and "Shining Star" have already been claimed by various Bronies and have DeviantArt drawings of various fans' conceptions of what these expansion ponies would look like. Names like "Sun Blossom" are simply canonical ponies that have actual toys made out of them.
This is Sun Blossom.
Spider Queen is of course the exception, because in My Little Pony land, Spider Queen is a spider, and not a pony.
So what gives? Are we being trolled by Bronies?

Anyways, seen worse. It is not harder to remember than the elderscrolls months.

Why the **** do they have to rename the months and days, what's wrong with the real ones ? I have a better idea, fire the story department and save enough money to make a decent game, anyway the story in the last 2 games was mediocre at best

Why stop at a linguist? I say hire some dancers and motion capture them. I want the story of H7 told in interpretive dance format. No need for words, just feels.

This would turn out to be the best Heroes game EVAH! To be honest, I have nothing against those names. They are just names, nothing special.

Blood Moon is currently just the pony name of a number of prominent Bronies (ex: http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/User_talkrince_Blood_Moon - I don't seem to be able to make url links work on this forum). But there are are obviously a number of people who would like to get their version of Blood Moon into a Friendship is Magic episode.
And yes, a linguist would be a good idea. They might, for example, explain the very good reason why the names of the months are not adjective-noun combinations in any human language. It's because months, by their nature, have to be used both as a noun (ex: "A wedding in June") and as an adjective (ex: "A June wedding"), so they can't have both pieces in them already.
In the little battle writeup story that went with this stupid Brony revelation, they worked around that issue by always referring to the months in the "(number) of (month)" construction where it was grammatically a noun, but they really crapped the bed by making it so that the month names cannot be grammatically used elsewise.

I have to agree with the above post.
While I like Ashan and was happy when devs created it's own calendar, and the names sounded quite cool for me (I don't see a connection with MLP and "Bronies", maybe because I don't watch it?  ), but when I started to translate those war articles for my community I feeled like in linguistic hell. At least it's very hard to translate this into Russian.
Really, month names should be just one word. For my liking.
But indeed, there're even "better" examples in other fantasies

Well, from what I know there aren't that many 25+ year old fans of Anastasia or Isabel, yet there is a whole "subculture" of MLP fans...
