Can Battle Dwarves resist Chain Lightning when they are at the middle of the chain?
I think I know the answer already, but still want to ask it.
Imagine that the enemy have a stack of a stack of Battle Dwarves and some other creature stack.
And lets say you cast chain lightning to the second stack.
Could the resistance skill of the bd's be able to stop the chain?
Or it will definitely get hit, because the magic has started already and there will be no more calculations?

As far as I know, the game determines the chain when the spell is being cast. If it finds the first stack to resist the spell, the entire spell will fizzle. If a stack further down the chain resists it, it will just skip that stack and move on to the next nearest one that doesn't resist.

I vote for "can happen" because I think dwarves or just magic resistance skill and items have messed up my lightnings.

I tested it.
If a dwarf get the magic resistance in the middle of chain light, it just shift to the next target, like ignoring him.

Thanks for the testing! I find it very interesting, the most illogical result of all.

I find it quite logical. Same thing happens in case of unit totally resistant to chain lightning like dragons or units under influence of pedant of negativity
