Heroes of the Storm
So, yesterday Blizzard decided to give me acces to Heroes of the Storm. I'm not a fan of mobas in general, but I find this game entertaining. The fact that there are no items and that there is joined exp pol is kind of refreshing to me. I think I'll play this game for some time  Does anyone else acces to alpha? What are your thoughts?

I've been playing DotA/DotA 2 for a long time(7-8 years I think) and played HoN quite a bit, following the tournaments and pro scene of both games etc. and I can say that HotS looks fantastic. It is made more for casuals than for pro scene in my opinion but it is very fun so it doesn't really matter.
I haven't played it but watched a lot of videos and some of my friends have it, it is really active game and that is awesome. You won't be seeing Heroes farming their lane for 40 minutes like in other games, everything is in small quests and if you don't want to do those quests you simply lose the game.
Friend told me that game length is usually around 20 minutes, which is another positive thing because DotA games can last for ages.
All in all, I was sceptical when I first heard about HotS, as I have thought that it will be just a poor copy of DotA/HoN/LoL, but Blizzard changed some really important things and those things are differences between HotS and other MOBAs. They make it really fun, so I must say that I am positively impressed.

I have been playing HotS for a long time now.
I have not played DOTA or LOL, so this was my first MOBA. I absolutely love it. I find it highly addictive and entertaining. First of all it has that Blizzard feeling. The detail level is amazing, the feeling of each character is spot on and you do really feel like the character.
The maps are fun and there are a lot of varitions, but as for the beta they are getting old and repetive.
I highly recommend all to try and gain access to the Beta.
I mainly play Zagara, The Brood Mother, she is a ranged specialist and I like that style of play, where you stay at distance and bombard your enemies. Other then that I am a fan of Thrall, a melee assassin, fast paced and deadly in late game.
Else I like most of other ranged characters
The worst thing about HotS is the skins and extra features you can buy. They are really expensive

I've been registered for the Beta for a while now, but I haven't received anything. Even if I do, I can hardly imagine the game would be better or more addictive than DotA 2. From what I've seen on the streams, it seems to be more on the casual side, which would probably be appreciated by certain players, but not by me.

I do believe that Blizzard decided to make it more casual, which I do indeed like. But of course they have ranked play as well.
But according to the chat in game it is not always that casual. Some players are plain idiots and horrible people

I play the beta a lot. I played dota 1 and 2 for a long time but I can say this game is a lot more fun. The joined exp and no items is great, but the matches average like 15-20 mins, which is way more convenient. No more of those 70 min dota games when you know you lost 25 mins in but it somehow drags on for double that time  It does not give me that same satisfaction from a perfectly planned and executed dota match though. You also can't pick the perfect hero and go the perfect items to carry your crappy team to victory, not in Hots.
Lemme know if anyone wants to team up

I've been playing this game from time to time, and wouldn't mind grouping up. Seems most of the player base is a tad too young/tenacious for my taste 
I also have few beta keys if someone needs them.

I highly recommend you guys trying out Heroes Of The Storm. It has really come a long way since Beta and I really feel that it is somewhat well balanced.
And then it is just fun as hell. Very addictive and way more easy going than other mobas.

Finally decided to try this for real, and so far I'm hooked!
The games simplicity is it's main strength. Bye bye items and item builds. It's also a lot faster to play. I really like the levels diversity, and the ideas behind them (turn into a Dragon Knight for extra push or summon a pirate ship to bombard your enemies structures). Production values are also to notch (I like those little things like Diablo's comment when having a Nephelem in team etc ), and because I like Blizzards style very much it's a MOBA that I feel most at home in (and I played Dota or LoL for instance).
On the downside, there aren't that many interesting heroes to choose from. But that's purely my own impression (maybe I need more time to familiarize with them). Also skins are very expensive (it appears that's Blizzard philosophy unfortunately).
It's worth noting that I'm playing vs AI for now (I must wait until some of my friends return from their vacations), but it's still very addicting.
Nice job Blizzard, as always... (In such a hermetic genre they still managed to make sth interesting)
The only question is how long will their formula last until I'm bored with it...

It's certainly fun and it's easy to say goodbye to cheap items and last hitting creeps. It doesn't give you that satisfaction of a greatly executed Dota game but it's still an exciting game. I like how unique the heroes are from on another unlike Dota.
Unfortunately the amount of levels is still pretty low and you get sick of some. And yea everything is expensive lol.

I like a lot of the heroes, but I suppose it is all about being familiar with the Blizzard universes and knowing the heroes from one and another.
And when you get familiar with some of their different play styles, you will fall in love with some heroes and stick to them.
In my eyes this is a game that is dedicated to the Blizzard fans. Giving them a chance to play some of their favorite heroes or characters.
Skins is insanely expensive. Which is the blizzard model atm.

I am a Blizzard fan, but in MOBA games I prefer monster characters (as of now most are humanoid in HotS). There are some of which I have my eyes on, I think I'll buy Anub'arak (one of my favs in Warcraft III and he costs 4000 gold). But I still have to try him out, if he has a similar playstyle like in W3 his mine  Zagara also looks nice cause she summons Zergs, and Asmodan cause he summons Hellspawn

I was disappointed to find slyvanas the dark ranger had no black arrow, skeleton resurrection ability. Like she was used in wc3

Anub Arak is one of the most prefered tanks atm I really love him.
Zagara is a solid specialist that can be a true nuiance.
Azmodan is so fun to play, but useless in meta. :

Anub'Arak is usually used as second tank, I see him solo from time to time but he is definitely not good solo tank as Muradin and Johanna are. He has great CC but isn't tanky enough to be considered the main tank.
Azmodan is not really useless and is often banned at pro level, especially on the Tomb of the Spider Queen map. The thing with Azmodan is that you have to create a strategy around him. If you pick Azmodan you have to pick Johanna and one more AoE hero(Kael, Jaina, Kerrigan) that can leave lane minions on low HP so Azmodan can kill them with his Q and stack damage efficiently. After bonus of 400-500 damage you just group as five and Azmodan takes 70-90% of enemy assassin's HP with Black Pool heroic ability + Q.

I usually use Anub as a main tank and I am doing just fine. With the beetle spec and a solid healer, you can be quite effective after lvl 7

If opponents have 2 or 3 stuns you will be dead which is hard to say for other great tanks.
Just compare the stats with other heroes:
Johanna has 1000 starting HP + 230 per level
Muradin has 1040 + 240 per level
ETC has 1040 + 240 per level
Butcher!(that is assassin) has 920 + 200 per level
Thrall(another assassin) has 875 + 180(IIRC) per level
Anub'Arak has 800 + 180 per level...
He is really weak with just raw HP and his shield doesn't compensate for the lack of his tanky talents. One of the reason for all of that is because he has burrow charge ability and can almost always escape from team fights as he has high range on that ability and is invulnerable while doing it, but then again you aren't tanking if you are running from fights, right?
Not saying that he can't work as single tank, but it is difficult if opponents know what to do. Out of all tanks, he would be the first to focus down from my team simply because I know that we can blow him up in few seconds unlike other tanks.
